Help with upgrading PC

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my PC that was built more than 3 years ago. It will mainly be used for gaming. Currently, it experiences significant slow down when I have a video playing alongside the game. The RAM usage would be around 80% and GPU around 80-100% so I'm mainly looking to upgrade these 2 areas during the upcoming BF sale. Also, I'm keeping and eye out for any deals on SSDs. Budget is ~500 for the GPU and RAM. Any advise?

most likely some farming game need to be on. you get bore then on video watch while it farm.

The new minimum ram for gaming now is 16gb so yes, upgrading your ram certainly is correct idea. For future proofing, you can just get a 2*8gb 3200mhz cl16 ram kit. Your current rig will not able to use its full potential but it doesn't mean it cannot be used, it will just clock itself down to the lower speed, theoretically. I used the word theoretically because while ram is backward compatible in speed, you still be limited by the controller and bios compatibility.

GPU wise should be looking at 1660 super and above.

Then why use HDD with SSD ? it is like a sprinter running while dragging a turtle ?

Msg me if you want 1TB seldom use Samsung SSD...going cheap...like $110....then put ur page file on SSDs instead of letting windows config it on both HDD & SSD.

You need to tell what is the preferred screen resolution for your setup and what game do you play.

If you are using 1080p monitor and play some 3D game like Diablo 3. I can tell you, I use Intel 2600K, 1080p on Nvida 1650 low-power, running a VMware Windows 10 VM. run two Diablo 3 copies in both VM and Host. I still get 100+ FPS for Diablo 3.

That is an example, that, your computer may not be bottleneck. You need to clean up the system drive and optimize the performance only.
