really? thn what's the fuss with powered and non powered usb hubs, i mean for the price difference im sure there's a reason eh ? can someone enlighten me :s11:

Powered USB is for stuff that requires power drawn to function for example RGB keyboard or USB fan. For normal usb hub, mouse,WiFi,kb and webcam should be fine.

Note there is a difference between Usb hub, switch and port. What you see on the laptop are ports. Whether these ports are connected to hubs or switches will depend on the machine.

As for powered external hubs, they allow more than one port to provide power to the plugged in accessory. Things like external hdd, cell phones, tablets etc. some are capable of charging tablets.
