Hi all I am in New Zealand currently holding a working holiday visa 6 months. I am from home team. My unit is asking for a company letter to proof that I'm working abroad when I am applying for exit permit. However obviously I don't have a company letter. It's working holiday !

Anyone know how can I deal with this situation?

Thanks

If you intend to travel overseas, you are required to apply for an exit permit only if you are traveling and remaining overseas for period of 6 months and longer in a single trip.

MINDEF Services > Overseas Notification > General Information > Apply Exit Permit

If you have been issued with a 6 months visa, and not intending to stay a day more, u technically just need overseas notification and not exit permit ain't it?

Sorry guys for the late reply.

I've emailed my unit and they just issue a oversea notification of 6 months to me and won't let me defer my reservist since I only can defer the reservist if the work is permanent. Henceforth even if I extend my working holiday visa for 3 months, my unit will not let me defer. Thus anyone know if there is any methods for me to defer this reservist till next year ? Will writing a essay to ministry of home affairs helps ? Not like I want to skip the chain of command but my units are only acting upon procedures.

Thanks all.

October 27. They want me to "provide overseas employment letter, must use company letterhead stating your Name/NRIC No/Position in the company and duration of work overseas." And "if i have gained permanent employment overseas beyond the overseas notification period, please apply for an exit permit online". So how will I even get these even if I extend 3 more months the work will not be permanent ?

I am not familiar with how the Home Team will handle cases like yours. However, if it is like the SAF, then all you need to do is to apply for a deferment under new job, using the employment letter as the supporting evidence, assuming you have such a job. If not, then I don't see any valid reasons for a deferment and therefore you have to come back to attend the training.

Well. Technically I am working. Just not a full time job it's a working holiday visa. So the job will be uncertain

get your part time boss to write a letter using company letter head or staple name card?

lets be practical here. if they allow you to any how defer based on part time, then everyone can defer based on part time job overseas, aka. JB, whatever.

sometimes you have to put yourselves in the shoes of the person on the other side of the fence.

so basically they already gave you the 6 months. come back do the reservist and fly where ever for as long as you want. end.

A Working Holiday Visa is a residence permit that allows young people to have an extended holiday in a country, while supplementing their living expenses by undertaking short-term employment. When one is holding a Working Holiday Visa one is on holiday.

Interestingly Singaporeans appear to be excluded from the Australian Working Holiday Visa program (Visa Options}. When you “drop by Australia for a month” what visa will you be holding? I am of course assuming that you are a Singaporean.

Anyway I think you should return to Singapore for your end October training. There is ample time for you to make the necessary arrangements.

Hi sg only have one country allowed to do working holiday and working holiday can only be done once. So if I go back and do my reservist then I would miss out the chance of extending another 3 months. Furthermore it's not like I deliberately want to skip my reservist. It's just happens the timeline crashes.

Reservist 10 cycles. Working holiday once a life time bro.

I know there is time for preparation. Just want a extended time to do this. Don't picture me as one of the guys who run oversea until 45 and skip 10 cycles. I can just do a make up before April and it still would be counted as 2014 cycle. So no worries bro. Thanks
