May I know what are my chances of getting into medicine/law at nus/ntu/smu.

Very very low. I will say impossible unless.. Maybe u represented Singapore for the Olympics?

you must understand that people with 90/87.5/85/83.5 RP are rejected. What makes you think 80 RP will stand a better chance?

I'm currently an officer from St John which is a voluntary organisation. Do u think this will increase my chances ( even by a little)? -and if so how do I let them know

To be honest, I think the chances are next to impossible too. Looking at the IGPs for every cohort...even 10th percentile admitted has AAA/A. Yours is AAB/C. This is actually a very big difference.

Also, most of the medicine and law students would have A for GP too but yours is an E. GP is really about your general knowledge and ability to process and analyse information so an E would pull down your application actually.

Of course, you can always still apply, but do have back up plans as well. Also, even if you don't get in, do know that it's not the end - the outcome isn't a reflection of your worth as a person. All the best!!

Maybe tiny tiny bit. But don't get your hopes too high. I will say its 0.1%

Not specific to Med / Law, but the thought process is similar.

A good start point is to be introspective and ask what you wish to read at the undergrad level and why. The where will fall in place after that.

Although pre-university grades are important, the local universities are moving away from an overemphasis on grades. More importantly, you need to answer 2 questions to get a place without solely relying on your grades:

1. Why should they choose you over others? i.e. what is the value you bring to the classroom / faculty / university?

2. Can you reasonably survive the rigour of local college education?

Read my post history from the last few years or PM for consults where needed :)

Cheers
