Hi admin, this is just an opinion of mine, perhaps it is something you can consider.

I won't list the username down but I just want to talk specifically about "advertising".

I am fully aware that advertising thread is frown upon on the forum and is against the ToS.

Recently there was a deleted thread that caught my attention. A user offering free cake for people on EDMW and his thread got deleted. Today, there was a kickstarter thread with the links removed and a warning was given.

Please don't mistaken me, I am not making any forms of complaint but rather, it's a suggestion from me that I would hope the admin would consider.

Perhaps, it is okay to give some leeway to aspiring people who are in their first time in creating something to the public. For example, a kickstarter project or offering something for free (NSA) could be allowed in the forum by allowing a single thread of the project instead of outright deleting all forms of advertising.

I am suggesting this because it takes a lot of effort to be in creative industry in Singapore and if someone creates a piece of artwork (game, video, food, dance...etc), I believe it is okay to share that on a forum like EDMW.

Just a small suggestion.

Let me clarify my stand on advertising, not related to EDMW, mainly in HWC and other forum under my purview.

For full-fledged commercial advertising and commercial solicitation, thread will be delete and the TS will get warning or infraction. There are some occasion I let the thread continue if the TS remove the commercial entity address, website, contact number, name and stop solicitation in the forum.

I understand the challenge and hardship with startup, I've nothing against them sharing startup information, knowledge and experiences with the forum community minus the commercial advertising element mentioned above.

I'm actively involve in 2 startup currently, I can fully understand the need to get market awareness and broaden the reach beyond physical location of the shop/office. Full fledged commercial advertising is strictly not allowed. There is a thread in EDMW from a startup sharing his/her knowledge and experience, I'd remind him/her to removed the advertising element. He/she promptly removed them and the thread is still active in EDMW as a knowledge sharing thread based on practical experiences and know-how. Occasionally, I chip in to provide some technical information within my capacity to show my support for local startup.
