Hi guys, need some help here, I tried doing furmark with my card, MSI 7970 OC (Reference, not TF) MSI Global ? Graphics Card - R7970-2PMD3GD5/OC

This is on stock clocks for the card, 1010/1375
FurMark - OpenGL benchmark and VGA Stress Test - Scores | oZone3D.Net
This is underclocked at 845/1100

Getting 97deg when underclocked scares me alot, fan was running at 100% and still it hovers at 90+deg

Recently I've been playing Dota 2/TF2 at max settings and I'm getting 87 degrees celcius, and this is when underclocked at 845/1100. Is there something wrong with the card or am i imagining things?

I'm actually using a Corsair 500D, 2x front intake, 1x 200mm side intake, 1x back exhaust, 2x top exhaust so i dont think it is my case at all..
My 5970 runs cooler with lower fan speeds and less power consumption when in games. This shouldnt be happening...

its only 1yr+ old so i doubt the paste dried up, any idea if my warranty will be void if I open it up?

Just bring back to Corbell. They will check and fix for you.

unscrew MSI graphics card and reapply thermal paste doesn't void its warranty

only some brands of graphics card such as XFX/Palit have sticker on 1-2 of the screws itself which doesn't allow user to open it up.

anyway reference card does run higher temp than non-ref card, if u are free u can go down to Corbell and ask them to take a look at ur card.

Have you got your Power Control Setting adjusted to 0%? The 7970 runs hot but haven't seen mine going beyond 76°C when OCed to 1100/1500 (TF BE OC). The VRMs get really hot though, you may want to keep a lookout for that as well. Was told the VRMs are rated for 120°C but it sure ain't good running beyond my comfort of 90°C for prolonged usage.

Yeah apparently the card was fried, "GPU Temp hits 100deg c in less than 30 secs" he said, so sent for RMA.
Dont talk about OC, i underclock till same clock as my 5870 and it still run 20deg hotter, damn.

I had quite a few fried GPUs in my life already, ATi/AMD and nVidia.
