This thread is super useful. Thank you for the effortful compilation.
So for my upcoming hike up Mt Fuji, guess i'll just go for NTUC Income. am surprised they'll cover up to 4,000m.
Thank you!

I just checked with them via WhatsApp and they said they don't cover mountainerring/trekking above 3000m.
Allied World is one of the more niche companies to cover. Can PM me if you want to find out more. Other than that, maybe AIG if I recall. Otherwise it’s specialised providers that cater solely to trekkers.

I tried to get a quote for the EBC trek but Nepal is not on the list.

Sorry I didn't mention it was AIG that I checked. I'm checking with AW now as they don't have quote on website.
How long is your trip? Didn’t know that AW don’t have quote on website.

Its funny NEPAL not selectable in AIG SIngapore site.

Under Safra - NEPAL is under ZONE 3.

Thank a lot, there's also Nepal under non-member section it seems.

I'm planning to trek EBC for 16 day trip in October - November. An agent came back to me but said that EBC trekking is considered "extreme sports", he also said they don't cover "remote areas". These agents don't seem to be very sure about Nepal trekking activity. I'm worried if any issues arise later.
Currently I'm considering Austrian Alpine Club membership if other options fail.

This is the liner from their policy wording regarding such activities.
c. hiking/trekking in remote areas, mountaineering requiring the use of ropes or guides, cliff or rock climbing

My understanding of remote is that you are going to veer off course intentionally covering other paths or routes. EBC is still below the 6000m height ceiling and it doesn’t involve the use of ropes yet? But if alpine memberships are better then definitely go with those because they are going to cover for sure.

They came back to me today and said they don't cover trekking that requires permit 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess that's that for AW.

For AIG, they said their Travel Guard DIRECT doesn't cover Nepal, only Travel Guard does, hence the difference on Safra and the website. I'm still checking the criterias, quite troublesome as they don't allow email follow up but have to raise another ticket.

AIG covers up to 6000metres, I did a trek up to Mt Yunam in India 6111m last year, used AIG. Anyway high camp at 5300metre, so just take own risk for the 112 metres to summit :ROFLMAO:

Hi there did you end up getting your insurance from AIG for your EBC trip?
