I want to go on 14 December 2016, around 4-5 days, and I want to take a night flight and arrive in the early morning, and also leave at night. After checking the usual airlines the best I can find is cathay pacific, around $500. Is anyone able to get anything better? I'm flying alone so I can't get a good deal.

My guess would be the 198sgd hk fare, is after 50sgd cash rebate ...
so the normal promo price is still 248sgd
just that the credit card gives 50sgd rebate back to the card holder ...

one of the cc promotion is to spend a minimum of $1,500 each month on your flight bookings , to get the 50sgd rebate ...

Only Cathay got that kind of timing... try and see if Cathay got promotion then faster chop your seat. Sometimes their promotion got the timing you want.

SQ is at best early morning go, late morning reach. The next closest is Scoot, but the return timing is crappy.

I found the night flights to and from hong kong via cathay pacific, $397 on expedia. But never used expedia before. Is it reliable and anything I need to look out for?

There are no flights and/or seats available for the journey you've selected. Change your selections or get in touch with your local Singapore Airlines office.

You can choose your seat at the point of purchase when making booking from cathay website directly ???

I have booked cathay Sin to Bkk, cant choose seat in advance ...
only know SQ can choose seat when making the booking ...

My experience in booking cathay to HK via expedia:

You can use the booking number to check and manage your flight information on cathay website.

You can only choose your seats 2 or 3 days before your departure date.
Unlike SQ, whereby you can choose your seat, when making booking.

Booked Thai Airways via Expedia.

Also can choose seat on TG online once login using Booking Reference & Traveller Name.
