Folks, a bit confused with the different options. Any comments on Hilton Niseko? Around $500 for 3 nights. Lake Toya location is good but pricey. Noboribetsu seems so-so but onsen ratings are high. Need to have a good balance between onsen, kids, and outdoor activities. No need for kaiseki meals.

Sapporo, Furano, Asahikawa seems easier to choose.

Anyone? Just interested in Niseko, Toya, Noboribetsu, and surrounding areas only for Summer with family.

For families for noboribetsu, i think daiichi takimotokan should be good? Recommended by at least one person here. I'm also undecided for noboribetsu.

I think i might prefer a smaller ryokan and one where the meals are not buffet. Stayed at takinoya bekkan tamanoyu last year. They have kaiseki but their onsen is pathetic.

I tentatively booked nonokaze for toya. Will probably top up for kaiseki as i don't like buffets.

Nonokaze is great - their kaiseki is fantastic and we were stuffed to the gills. We had the kaiseki breakfast too and could not believe how much food was served for a morning meal .....

Noboribetsu is really excellent for onsen. I also enjoyed being able to trek and walk around the Jigokudani park. I think it’s more interesting than Toya but Nonokaze is better. I rmb we did some fruit picking after Toya on the way to Noboribetsu. It was cherry season and so tasty eating it off the tree.

Thanks for your replies. For Nonokaze, besides onsen are there any family oriented activities at the hotel? I suppose their buffet is better quality than Toya Sunpalace?

For Niseko, there are a few public onsens that I am interested in such as the mud onsen. Need to search for that again as I cant remember the name.

Side question - is it better to travel to Furano first then to Toya or the other way round? I am saving Sapporo last so no need to wake up too early for the airport.

For daiichi takimotokan, how's their buffet dinner? Worth it to upgrade to standard/exclusive kaiseki meals?

I haven't had their buffet before but I would say upgrade to in room kaiseki if the top up is reasonable. One issue with takimotokan is that it's a large "ryokan-style hotel." it has a huge, amazing onsen, but it's also large and so the public areas can feel a bit crowded, so it's really nice to have dinner quietly with only your family in a private room. (your own room).

Food's not bad but not particularly excellent though.

Booked daiichi takimotokan for now. How is Toya Sunpalace? Their waterland looks very fun for kids. Reviews seems quite mixed. Anyone stayed there?

Negative reviews for toya sun is for the older rooms. I think some of the rooms have been refurbished.

Any comments on Sapporo Grand Hotel? One of the top hotels for its breakfast but not sure if its worth it. Location seems very good.

it's nearer to odori that sapporo station. since you have kids, i think slightly nearer to sapporo station is easier for you for the to/fro airport bit.

Thanks. Just booked that one. I intend to rent a car until airport as the cost difference with world net is not much. Just more convenient with luggages and kids. If I return at the Sapporo branch, they will incur 4300 Yen additional charge.
