everything is cheaper in japan. so just buy the tools u need. of coz the savings will be more substantial if u are getting expensive items such as cutter or airbrush.

other good to buy items will be aftermarket parts and waterslide decals. coz these take up little space in the luggage. just remember not to buy paint or spray can coz u may have problem checking in flammable items into the plane

I have not tried god hand so dunno how good it is. u try asking in the gundam thread. for expensive cutter, u need a lot less effort to cut the parts. but cant really tell unless u try it out first.

your travel date, pls?

/edit 1: updated itinerary
1) Any dining suggestions at Sapporo and Hakodate? For breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between snacks/ tea-break suggestions are good too.
2) Any comment on Pierrot? there seem to be whale meat burger and fried squid burger too. look tempting to try.

Bandai also have. usually I buy those from Bandai which are specific to the kit to replace the stickers provided in the kit. and also those 'warning', 'caution' labels

19 July. Reach chitose at 9am. Stay at sapporo
20 July :day trip to Otaru. Stay at sapporo
21 July : reach furano at 9am plus. Walk to farm tomita, melon tomita. At 6pm, go back to guesthouse
22 July: take furano sightseeing circuit bus ( visit rokugo observation point, furano jam factory, ningle terrace, cheese factory )
23 July: take the kururu bus to tour around furano
24 July: no idea where to go
25th take twinkle bus furano asahikawa and reach asahikawa station at 4pm. Transfer back to sapporo
26th: day trip to lake toya. Enjoy onsen. Back to sapporo.
27th: day trip to otaru. Stay at Sapporo
28th :afternoon flight to sg

4 nights at furano is it too much? Or 3 nights will be sufficient? Any flower farm can I still add in? Hope that is easily accessible as I'm using jr pass.
Pls advise if this itinerary is ok.

why do you need to make two trip to otaru ? on 20 and 27. i allocated about half a day there only. my colleague mentioned there wont be much there to see anyway. can spend a day exploring sapporo beer museum , chocolate factory etc instead.

flower farm imo 2 day time will be more than enough. so 4 nights might be too much.
24 can consider to asahikawa?
26 lake toya i will suggest spend a night there.
and no hakodate trip ?

/havent been to hokkaido before.

You can try go Otaru on either 24, 25, or 26 July, as their summer festival "Ushio Matsuri" will be held on those dates this year.

However, that also means that many shops will be closed.

Did not go up mt hakodate, but on the streets, before it gets dark, people are already lining the streets (to watch the fireworks), so I would guess u hv to go early....
the fireworks start abt 7.30p if I rem correctly

First week of Aug is the best time to go to Tohoku. Since u r already at hakodata on 1 Aug, check out the 3 Great Festivals of Tohoku :

I spent whole day at 大沼公園 Onuma Koen. Hiking, watching old man do lake fishing.

Located in the suburbs of Hakodate, Onuma is a resort area and quasi-national park surrounded by mountains, lakes and forests. An express train from JR Hakodate Station will have you on the doorstep of Onuma in just 20 minutes or so.

Avoid if you only want shop shop shop, chirp chirp chirp :D

Not really, I arrived in Hakodate late afternoon, and after check-in, I only came out of hotel only when its darkening, so have no gauge ...

The next day (Aug 2) there will be a song/dance procession in the evening too, and the sides of the road begin choping place as early as 4pm
