Hi all,

I am totally noob in Hokkaido. And i am planning a week trip.
Any recommendation and suggestion are welcome, thank you.

1) When is the best time to go? Hopefully cooling period?
2) Place of interest?

I don't think there is a best time for Hokkaido. Different seasons different beauty. Depend what you like.

If you want to ski then go during winter
If you want to see lavender fields then summer
If you want to see sakura then spring
If you want to see koyo (autumn colours) then go in autumn

hokkaido whole year round also best depending on what you want

7th April 2017 New Chitose to Lake Toya
8th April 2017 Lake Toya
9th April 2017 Lake Toya to Hakodate
10th April 2017 Hakodate
11th April 2017 Hakodate to Sapporo
12th April 2017 Sapporo
13th April 2017 Sapporo

The place you wanna go, don't really need a car.

If you haven't purchase flight ticket,

Can consider ANA multi cities flight route.

7th April 2017 SG to Hakodate, reach by afternoon
8th April 2017 Hakodate
9th April 2017 Hakodate to Lake Toya, activate Hokkaido 3 days pass
10th April 2017 Lake Toya to Sapporo
11th April 2017 Asahikawa day trip
12th April 2017 Sapporo
13th April 2017 Sapporo

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_01.html

Hakodate to Lake Toya is 5490 yen
Lake Toya to Sapporo is 5920 yen
Asahikawa round trip is 9620 yen

Given a choice, I will visit Lake Toya then go stay at Noboribetsu since it is on the way.

Yes. Hell Valley Town is nice but their mascot can be frightening. Haha

Feel that Hakodate is not really a must unless you like seafood and the view from mount Hakodate.

really so underwhelming? i quite like the dairy products from hakodate and the general atmosphere when i was there.

was myself considering hakodate for my future hokkaido trip but alas the 3-4 hrs train ride is a deterrent even if i fly in to hakodate and leave via sapporo. if stop in between at toya, from toya station to the resorts also a distance and buses don't operate in winter i think.
