hi all japan gurus

intending to make my virgin trip to Japan and wife wants to go to hokkaido as first stop

for sq there is no direct flight to sapporo chitose airport so will need to book own domestic flight from either hanade or narita to chitose

so which round trip flight will be the cheapest to book from either hanade or narita to chitose and back

If you MUST fly to Tokyo (instead of following what oceanicmanta suggested), there's lots of budget airlines that do cheap flights from Tokyo to Sapporo.

Last year I took JetStar Japan, ¥18,220/pax return ticket inclusive of 25kg baggage.

My itinerary for Hokkaido trip here if you're interested: http://look-see-eat.blogspot.sg/2015/11/hokkaido-autumn-guide-sapporo-moiwa-curb-market-ramen.html

Depending on your travel time, SQ does have seasonal direct flight from SIN to CTS.

It would be winter in Hokkaido during that period. Instead of rain, snow is possible.

It will all depend on what you wish to do and your arrival and departure cities in Hokkaido. I visited during the same period before. I started from Hakodate and ended at Sapporo. I also managed to cover Lake Toya, Noboribetsu and Otaru during the trip. Lake Toya was too foggy to be enjoyed though.

If via ANA, do open jaw flight route.

Day 1 - SG night fly to Hakodate, reach around afternoon, chill and settle down.
Day 2 - Full day in Hakodate (stay)
Day 3 - Hakodate to Noboribetsu onsen (stay), if you travel light and willing can wake up slightly early, can go lake Toya before going Noboribetsu.
Day 4 - Noboribetsu to Sapporo (stay)
Day 5 - Full day in Sapporo (stay)
Day 6 - Sapporo (stay) to otaru
Day 7 - chitose airport morning fly then back to SG

my ANA flight to narita will reach at 2:20pm japan time, so how long should i buffer for my domestic flight to chitose, will 2hrs be enough, will narita immigration pose any delays and the traveling time to check in for the domestic portion

I will assume you are continuing on to Chitose on ANA. 2h is more than enough especially if the flight connection is set by ANA.
