Hi folks,

I have recently signed up Singtel's 1Gbps Unlimited Fibre plan and it came with their free Home Digital Line. In order to use the digital line, I need to use DECT digital phones (Master and slave sets). For this to work, I understand that the Master unit needs to be connected to the ONT provided by the telco. And the ONT needs to be connected to the Fibre Termination Point (FTP) which in my case is located within a small closet along the corridor. Thus, my Master unit is located inside this closet and my slave can be located anywhere in the house as long as there is a power socket.

What I really want to do is to be able to practically use both units at the same time. I have done some initial research on loopbacks of the house telephone network but stop short of understanding how exactly it can be done. Not sure if it is the only option or if there are other better approaches.

Can anyone share how can I locate my Master outside my closet and make use of existing telephone point in my house and still be able to use the digital line?

Thanks in advance!
Joe

You can insert the RJ11 cable into your telephone wall socket (if it's installed) and connect your master handset into the wall socket within your house.

Unfortunately, there is no telephone wall socket in my corridor closet. I see that all the telephone lines from the rooms end in that closet. But there is no way for me to link any of those lines to my ONT.

1. Hire ppl and lay another phone line. (simple and direct)

2. ONT -> Router -> Phone (may work)

3. Not sure why u need your master tho. But u can leave your master dock there and take the dect phone out. (buy another or share the charging dock etc.)

1. Any recommendation of knowledgeable contractors pls?

2. I am using DLink 865-L. Don't see any place to connect my phone to it.

3. Master dock/base is used for charging right? A bit inconvenient to leave it in the closet. Would like to use it in the living room, rather than spend more $ on another dock. :)

TS, is your flat BTO type? Do post picture of your telecom closet.

It's a condo. Sorry top shelve is a bit messy, need to tidy up.
My setup is like FTP -> ONT -> Phone/Router -> Switch

I'm guessing all the telephone wiring is housed in the enclosure with the unit number attached. Do post pic of the "innard".

BTW, is that a splitter connecting between the ONT and the dect phone?

The telephone wiring seems to be housed in the 2nd box from the bottom, just above the fibre termination point. Thought its called a filter?

There you have your answer, now need to figure out how to patch the output from ONT to the terminal block.

BTW, filter is only needed for ADSL, not require for VoIP (voice service).

Yeah... probably need to get professionals to do it. Would be great if I can find a way to DIY. :)

Noted on the filter. I will remove it. Thanks!

Actually should be straight-forward.

On the terminal block, the left side is where all wiring to each room go to. It's the right side that you need to play around. First need to check the main ST line and terminated it, I believed it's the last pair on the lower right hand side. This is where the RJ11 output from ONT need to go to.

Of course all this need to verify and double-confirm before proceeding.

I'm using digital line by M1 for its ffb plan. My 3 DECT handsets are connected wirelessly to my master handset which is docked and connected to the ONT. My 3 handsets are also docked and charged by the wall AC outlet each. Mine can use 2 handsets at the same time. My existing telephone wall outlets can still be use if I need them.

Actually, the working is the same as land line like my previous setup. If you have 1 phone number but 3 or 4 extensions then 2 phones can work at the same time.

I suppose your ONT is located in a more convenient location?

Frankly, I don't really know how to do all these. Too technical for me. :(

lol....technology really sux...i found your solution...rj11 (4lines) can be use in rj45 (8lines).

watch this

if my theory is correct,
ISP -> ONT -> RJ11 -> RJ 45 WALL SOC -> RJ11 -> phone.

It can be daunting if one is unfamiliar with this type of setup.

Just wondering, who was the one that setup your current home network?

My renovation contractor sourced an electrician for me. He did my lighting and link up the whole house with Cat6. But he doesn't seem to be familiar with the telephone wires or maybe act blur and not willing to make an extra trip back here again.

Yes terminal point and ONT are just beside the router and connected to the master DECT phone set next to it all in the hall
