Hi everyone, my current home setup is from DB >> ONT >> Router >> NAS at Living via Lan + powerline at master bedroom for bad wifi

I just converted another 3 telephone port to data port at Living,Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 2.

Can i get a switch and change my setup to DB >> Switch>>Router(shift to living hall) to improve my wifi for phone and tablet since i got 2 data port at living hall now ? Any recommended 5 port unmanaged switch? Should i get the one with poe?

I got a spare asus router, intend to use as access point in Bedroom 2 also

Where is the distribution panel for all the LAN ports ?
Unless you have 2 LAN ports side by side, connection will be:
ONT > main router > all lan points > access points/NAS/ etc...

The distribution panel for all the LAN ports are inside the DB
I have 2 LAN port at the living hall now,not exactly side by side but about 1m apart.

Thinking whether is possible to put the switch inside the DB but the router at living hall for better wifi.
Maybe ONT > Router (at living hall) > Switch (at DB) > all the lan points ?

Hmm, any TP Link or cheap 5 port switch should suffice. Don't think you need POE really, those are only if you need to put your APs in a place where there is no access to any power points.

Unless you want it to really look sleek, and as little wires as possible, I would advice against PoE. It's extra cost for no real benefit in a home network.

PoEs are better for offices when you have a controller or a manager for mulitple APs all over the office and when you mount them in the ceiling there is no power point.

Maybe ONT > Router (at living hall) > Switch (at DB) > all the lan points ?
If 2 lans port are linked correctly, then you can do:
ONT > Router (at living hall) > living hall port #2 > Switch (at DB) > all the lan points
