Hi guys, trying to set up my home network at my new resale flat (layout below). Summary of issue:
- Just subscribed to Starhub's 1Gbps plan and the ONT provided apparently only has port 1 enabled.
- Configuration done by Starhub technician was to connect ONT port 1 to data point 1 which is linked to living room ethernet port. Nokia Beacon 1 router then connected to living room ethernet port and used to provide Wifi through the house.
- My PC is located in my office and doesn't have Wifi capability, so it needs an ethernet connection to get online and the config by Starhub technician doesn't work for my PC.
- I have an old D-Link DIR868L router lying around, thought I can use it to act as a switch to split the ONT port 1 connection so my PC can get online access too. But after going through the manual, I'm still not too sure which mode and setting I should use to do this - wireless AP, wireless bridge etc?
Sorry total noob at networking stuff. I know the easiest solution is probably to get a Wifi adapter for my PC, but I prefer the stability of ethernet. Any advice much appreciated.
