Everyone's definition of honeymoon is different, do you want to spend everyday on the road? Travelling from town to town or just stay put in 1 location?

It's a big country, with endless possibilities. What would you like to do/achieve in that time?

Recommend doing coastal route from Melbourne to Sydney. Takes about a week, can be stretched to 10 days to be more chill.

Hi TS.
Congrats!

Anyway I spent my Honeymoon at Australia during end Nov/early Dec many years ago..

Since it was a Honeymoon, I decided I did not want to just spend my time at the usual tourist spots, i.e. Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne.. Hence I chose.... Tasmania... Actually Tasmania (9 days) + Melbourne (4 days). Melbourne was in because I had to transit on mainland anyway so might as well spend a few days for retail therapy.

Had a blast and until today, Tasmania is my favourite place in Australia. Quiet, isolated but with plenty of natural beauty!

Yes, you'll need to rent a car, preferably find a rental coy that does one way rental so you can drop off the vehicle in sydney.

There are a lot of things to do when taking the coastal route, I'm currently planning a trip there too. You can refer to this when planning the trip:

Depending on what you prefer to do, you can drop or add places from that list. My gf and I will be skipping phillip island and spending an extra day in wilson's prom as we prefer hiking and other more adventurous activities. You can also charter a boat in the gippsland area to explore the lake without a boat license.

What is your budget? Low, medium, high, etc? I like beano's idea of doing the whole south-west corner from Perth. Definitely save on airfares, and you don't have to worry about one-way rentals.

Tasmania would work well as well. You have just about the right amount of time to drive all along the east coast, visit Cradle Mountains, and drive back through the in-land.

Another option would be driving from Melbourne to Adelaide. You can cover the GOR, and then choose different coastal and inland components.

I hope his definition of relax doesn't consist of driving 2-3000km.. that's why i recommended Perth..

Melbourne-GOR-Mount Gambier-Connawarra-Naracoorte-Victor Harbor-Adelaide is just less than 1100km. Add in The Grampians and Robe, it's still under 1500km. For 3000km, can drive from Perth to Adelaide. :s13:
