waiting for the global release of the Vivo V40 in Singapore, but should I consider getting the Honor 200 (non-Pro) instead?

It seems like the global version for Honor 200 will still be cheaper than the Vivo V40, offering the same CPU and more memory (12GB vs. 8GB). I dont bother much about the camera..
if u dun care about camera, dun need wait for v40. 200 is more than enough.

Physical Ram is 12gb.
There's a 12gb extended ram. Tiagong only in action on demand.

ram extension is taking phone storage to use as ram. Some phone OS is efficent in utilizing this technology for ram intensive apps but is not there for most brands yet.
So the feature is just there as like a new technology cos of speed differences of ram vs phone storage + eats battery(not if the system is good at using it - maybe is the action on demand)

So yep i will turn it to the lowest or off it most of the time, if my physical ram is already enough

Me in same boat as you, hee. Been eyeing the Vivo V30 and upcoming V40 not just for the camera, but also the excellent battery life.
So far, I have yet to come across any reviews that talks about the Honor 200's battery life. However, I did hear that the 200 Pro lacks good battery life.

Are you serious? This would be the first time I hear that ram extension cannot be disabled in a cellphone, that's bad 😱
I think it's for all honor phones ?

I heard x9b also cannot turn off.

GSMArena has it. https://www.gsmarena.com/honor_200_pro-review-2710p3.php

Not exactly fantastic but most reviews say can last 1 day with no issue.
Couple with the 100w charging, it can provide fast top up too.

Thanks for sharing this important trait that is often left unsaid. Never knew that Honor programs their cellphones like that 😓
