I know it's not an apple to apple comparison, and the fact that I'm in a Honor thread.... But would appreciate any sharing that could help my decision..

I'm deciding between Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Magic V3.

What's important to me: battery life, camera quality, ease of use.

My current phone: a Huawei. Which I love, except that due to work reasons I need an Android 14 and Google apps.

It seems like the Magic V3 is more suitable for work, which I do appreciate, but Pixel's camera quality seems better..

Also I saw the V2 demo set's screen protector was coming off, any users here can feedback if this happens easily IRL?

Thanks!
for me i would get V3. i had a pixel 7 pro. after 1year of use. really dislike the os and to get any accessory for it its so troublesome and expensive. honor this type of brands its widely common in china where else their casing and etc is easier to find. i bet u will prefer to have fast charging compare to slow pixel charging

Agreed, slow charging is really painful...

U got turn on those permissions, autostart, disable battery savings ma?
Oppo ColorOS china rom more aggressive (at least for my find n2), by default, every notif for non-chinese apps are OFF, u hv to ciao one by one to On it., plus batt optimisation turn OFF. Even then i On all notif, the batt life are still greater than Samsung. Cos I reckon by ONing all notif means it will be the same as Global rom. Haha

But magicOS no such prob, essentially I did not ciao anything AT ALL for all apps and all notif came In w/o fail, except for some occasional non-pop ups for OCBC authorisation to click 'yes'.

But my V2 is global rom, I also find the batt life exactly same as my CN V3.
I don't game, don't watch shows, jus usual Whatsapp/work email/chrome.

I saw somewhere is that it's bcos Chinese apps were trying to push all sorts of ads and it became an ad push arms race so phone manufacturers had to counter it with battery optimisation. thought that was quite interesting fwiw

any review on the software experience.. i am kinda tired seeing reviewer blabering about battery life how thin it is camera, etc.. i want to know how its software is.. how the tablet experience like... multi tasking.. not much people get into detail on that
Watch the video, Ben did go into the software experience. Seems much improved and user friendly.

If only Honor designed a smaller stylus that can be slotted into the magic v3 just like the Samsung ultra series. So hard to find a nice case that can house the stylus , making me contemplate whether to get the stylus or not zz.
I'm coming from product design background and normally we tailor the tech based on human comfort. V3 thickness is 4.35mm. For a stylus pen to be slot-in, it has to be thinner than the body housing. That would mean, making a too slim pen would be uncomfortable to grip. Samsung ultra stylus at 4.45mm is even difficult for me to control, and I have medium hands. What else for those person's w big hands.
Honor made the pen big (not slot-in) for everyone to have a firm grip and control of the pen strokes. This concept is not for everyone.
I suggest you get the pen if you "really " has a need for it. Some sellers are actually giving them foc.

If camera quality is important then better get pixel 9 pro xl. Typical "bar" phone has superior camera quality than foldables.

I can agree and see the point where a thicker pen is more comfortable/better grip, just that it's really bulky. I've used s23 ultra before the s pen was comfortable to use though, at least for my medium size hands. Maybe because I'm used to these kinda thinner pens (Nintendo 3ds eras). I used similar S pens for surface pro tablets/laptops as well. I've a lot of use case and need for the pen actually, it's just the bulkiness to carry it around lol. I guess you can't have everything in life.

V3 is thinner. That would force a thin slot-in pen 3+mm. Not even suitable for medium hands

Ya I know, my point was more towards him finding ultra series pen already not so comfortable to use which can be subjective and depends on person to person ma. For V3 to have a slot in pen that's usable maybe a bit of a wishful thinking also. Nvm enjoy v3 first see if subsequent launches or any other brands got an innovative way to integrate the stylus into the foldable design.

Checked with honor

1. For SG, 365 days only replace 1 time inner OR outer screen
2. For Msia, first 180 days will replace inner/outer screen each 1 time max, subsequently the next 185 days any screen enjoy 50% off their repair price

Swee. Later after work see if got time passby molest a bit.
After further clarification with Honor SG, the 1 year screen protection covers both inner and outer screen replacement 1 each. Seems better than the Honor Msia one which only covers first 180 days, tho they can extend the normal hardware warranty for another year for just RM 299 (screen crack not covered).
