Hoot Gfx now or later?

i will be building my new PC end of this year when my bonus comes in.. as can see from my profile my PC starting life, bar all e 'emergency transplants', already 6 years liao... think its high time for a change

i am currently using dell 2715h, n with my current specs, QHD gaming is out for me.. after some research, i think that e 1070 will be best card for my QHD gaming needs (sorry AMD, after using u so long, 480X not e best for QHD)

however, i see that now e palit 1070 got nice price, n lazada can get $100 off somemore.. should i hoot that first, or will prices be even better come end of e year?

I think price won't change much unless AMD release a card that can reach GTX1070 performance at a cheaper price but AMD next GPU that might reach it is vega

Normally, I'd advise you to wait but these are the factors that I (personally) will consider:

1. Amazon iirc doesnt provide international warranty for GPU

2. My gf and I have differing views on how the following scenario plays out:

Given the Hanjin situation, there might potentially be stock shortages come black friday, cyber monday etc because some of those stocks are stuck at sea (more relevant for Samsuck and LG)

My view is that certain products will not have steep discounted sales owing to stock shortages

My gf view is that the online retailers will still push for massive discounts anyways with or without stocks to keep up with the expectations of the consumers

3. Prices of electronics (same model) will always drop with time or at best maintain pricing. If anything, new releases, news of new releases will push prices down even further.

4. How material is $100. I can get it now and use it on my rig today.

also, though it is tempting to buy all e new tech coming in 2017, i have to consider that year end will be more free for me to assemble e PC, and that new tech is always marked up??

well for now that is a promotions with their partner even if u buy now are u going to use?

and some more it will be better if u just get a whole build at the same time so that u know how long is the product warranty and how many left when there is a need for rma your products.

The low ended gtx1k card still haven't come up yet.

QHD gaming is just expensive right now with the 1070 being the only real contender. As tempted as I am, i'd hold out for a full system refresh for next year so GPU/CPU/NVMe will bold well and QHD should be mainstream!

Or just go with the cheapest of the latest GPU batch for okay 1080p game play and plonk that in a media pc next yr when you do a full refresh

1. 1070 is the best bet for QHD gaming?
2. AMD vega wont be out by end of e year?

I won't say that they will be out for desktop by year end, most likely is next year.

2. This qns js kinda hard to ans as we are ain't sure if they are releasing this year, beside that there are a few codename of Vega, but it definitely be out by next year(if their schedule is as followed nicely)

It's $100 off $600 min spend, so you still have to spend extra $45. If you split the discount equally then technically it's $462.50 (palit dual) + $37.50 (filler items). If you consider the filler items no discount and pay full at $45, then it's $455.
