Impression of Logitech G502 Proteus Core
Having owned and used quite a fair share of gaming mice listed below,

Logitech
Logitech MX900
Logitech G700s

RAZER
Mamba
Ouroboros
Deathadder
Copperhead
Diamondback
Imperator
SWTOR

Madcatz Cyborg
RAT 7
RAT 9

Coolermaster CM Storm
CM Storm Reaper

I love wireless mouse and my favorites are Razer's SWTOR and Madcatz Cyborg RAT 9. As for wired mice, my all time favorites are Logitech G700s, CM Storm Reaper and Cyborg RAT 7.

So how does this new kid fare compared to my list of my favorite mice.

Once unboxed, holding onto Logitech G502 itself makes me smile. I love its textured rubberized sides of the Logitech G502 as well as the sophisticated design. The whole of Logitech G502 is in black except for the bottom cover (for weights) has a light ascent of blue painted on it.

Logitech G502 is construct with high quality plastic which felt that it could withstand long hours of gaming abuse as well as hard knocks. The main frame of the G502 itself is covered with matt surface plastic, sides are rubberized and only certain grooves of the mouse are in gloss plastic. Nicely designed as a gamer myself, I hate gloss surfaced mouse as not only it is finger print magnet but also due to long hours of usage the mouse would felt greasy due to skin's oil as well as there won't have any grip to the mouse itself.

The rubberized areas are also not covered on the whole mouse which is another good design. Sorry, but personally I hate the degradation of the rubbers of the mouse which I experienced in all of Razer's gaming mice. Keeping the rubberized areas at the minimal will allow the longer life span of the gaming mice used by the gamer. (I would often replace the mouse once the degradation of rubber)

The cables of the Logitech G502 Proteus Core are made of high quality braided cloth material. I love braided cables due to its reduced chance of entangled cables as well as no sticky degraded rubber cables.

Rubberized sides of Logitech G502 Proteus Core

The rubber coating is those of higher quality ones, it gives the users a better grip and feel of the mouse itself.

On the left side of the G502, there are a total of 3 usable buttons (programmable). The additional thumb button is extremely useful for gaming as it can be set as an additional hot keys for certain skills. The three thumb buttons are easy to access and reached as well as the button presses are not too clicky. The buttons on the Logitech G502 are made of mechanical microswitches which are unlike some poorly constructed gaming mice buttons which are too loose and pressing them felt squishy. Nice!

At the top of the Logitech G502 Proteus Core, there are a total of 7 programmable buttons. Beside the default DPI/ Side Scroll/ Profile buttons. All of the buttons are nicely planned and placed all within reach of the index finger.

Once plugged in to the USB port, the G502's LED G Logo and the DPI LED will lit up. The LEDs are bright and different settings of the LEDs can be set such as breathing, brightness as well as on/ off.

But I would appreciate if the G502's LED is RGB instead of just blue.

Scroll wheel of Logitech G502 Proteus Core
What I love about Logitech's mouse are their scroll wheels. I always love their hyper scrolling and side scroll functions of the Logitech's scroll wheel.

The side scrolls are also programmable which adds in two additional skills that can be bind to the mouse itself.

The hyper scroll scroll wheel of the G502 is really nicely design which I find it extremely useful for browsing web pages/ documents.

Logitech's G502's scroll wheel itself is made of metal painted in gun metal. Nicely textured with grooves on the scroll wheel which ensures precise scrolling. Nice!

Core of the G502 Proteus Core

Here is the most important component of the gaming mice. Logitech G502 Proteus Core is equipped with the world first 12,000 DPI sensor!

Underneath the hood of the Logitech's G502 Proteus Core is a new Delta Zero IR sensor which is said to be the world's most powerful and accurate sensor.

Gamers are able to do in-game shifting between five DPI settings ranging from 200 to 12,000 resolution, with LED indicators.

Proteus Core's sensor can be calibrated to the physical and reflective properties of the surface on which the mouse rests, then reconfigures itself as necessary for the best performance.

Having used many different gaming mice before, I never had any issues with Logitech's mouse especially with the G502 Proteus Core on any gaming surfaces.

Users are able to save a total of 3 different custom profiles which can be switch on the fly in between games via the default profile assigned button on the mouse itself. Users are also able to save the profiles/ settings onto the Proteus Core's onboard settings. Do note that Logitech itself has a long list of gaming profiles downloadable from the Logitech G502's Gaming software as well. Nice!

Custom Weight and Balance of the Proteus Core
Underneath the G502 Proteus Core, users are able to custom the weight and balance of the mouse using various supplied weights.

Users just have to remove the weight cover at the bottom of the mouse which is secured by magnets. There are a total of five pieces of 3.6 g weights which users can install to the G502 itself adjusting the center of weight and balance.

Installed Weights on the Logitech G502 Proteus Core

The weights are held and secured onto the G502 by the rubber grips (Blue). Personally I love heavy weight mouse which explains my love for Cyborg's RAT series of gaming mice.

After installing the weights on the G502 Proteus Core, I felt more control on the mouse during my gaming sessions.

Conclusion Impression on Logitech G502 Proteus Core
I had been using the G502 for the past 3 days, I really enjoyed using it a lot. Not only it is ergonomically design, the 11 programmable buttons on the mouse itself has made my usage on the G502 very very enjoyable. Combo it with the side scroll and hyper scroll scroll wheel, it hit the sweet spot which I look into gaming mouse.

Although it is equipped with a 12,000 DPI sensor, I never set more than 5600 DPI on my 2560 X 1440 LED monitor.

Overall the sensor is very accurate and precise! I had tested in various gaming pads surface such as aluminum, soft cloth surface, wooden table top as well as glass top. Logitech G502 Proteus Core is able to operate with precise accuracy in all types of surface which really impresses me a lot. Below is my personal opinion on the Logitech G502 Proteus Core.

Sadly, the G502 Proteus Core does not have the auto switch profile via applications and no RGB LEDs if not I would had gave it a full marks for Aesthetics and Functionality.

Ergonomics: 9/10
Built: 8/10
Sensitivity: 10/10
Aesthetics: 7/10
Functionality: 8/10

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Wow good and detailed review. Thank you for letting us understand more on this mouse. Since you've used deathadder before, which is the one I'm using now. What do you think of this mouse compared to it? Mainly playing games like Dota and some mmo
