Singapore is so tiny, we don't need so many oppo parties. That only dilutes the votes, confuses voters and leads to 3 way fights which only benefit the ruling party.
Hope at the next GE they learn their lesson and join forces and have fewer parties though I doubt that will happen. Everyone wants to be the chief baya of their own clan. No one wants to share the #1 position with someone else. And its exactly this selfish attitude IMO which will never see any oppo party pose a serious threat to the ruling party.
What's the use of having so many oppo parties when many of them clearly don't have the manpower or logistics to even canvass for votes, let alone run a SMC or GRC?
During the recent election, I did not receive a single flyer or manifesto from the opposition under my door. My friend says maybe they lack manpower to distribute. And maybe they lack funding to pay flyer companies to distribute. Be that the case as it may, how do they expect me to vote for them when I don't know who they are and what they stand for?
I liken that to running for the sake of running. Do a proper job. If you don't have the manpower or funds, then don't run. Let other oppo parties do it.
Its easy for people to make comments like oh you voted for PAP so why are you complaining. The question is not why people vote for PAP. The question should be how many voted for PAP because they believe in them, and how many voted PAP because they know nuts about the opposition in their ward.
