Hi,

I just ORD from the army 8 months ago. In the army I did seek treatment from NUH due to high blood pressure, I was never on any medication. I was admitted to NUH about 3 times in 2 years for headache during army.
I just got AIA gold max plan A, with my insurance adviser advice I did not declare any of these when buying the plan. The plan was approved without any under writing.
Now i am very afraid If i got hospitalize will the insurance company find out ?, my agent mention to me to go to private hospital as you are considered a 'new case' to them and remember to tell them this is the first time. Can this work ?, I just felt foolish.

For a piece of mind, declare and do whatever necessary to get yourself covered properly without exclusion or whatever.

request to declare to AIA via your agent
if he/she dun wan to help, declare to AIA directly
cover yourself cover your backside

anything happen, AIA can void and leave you hanging, and your agent laugh all the way to the bank with your commission.

Yes you should sack your Financial consultant. You need to declare your condition for underwriting with medical report attached.

I might be late, but please declare if you need.

From my best knowledge, only Aviva allow momentum writing and they will cover EVERYTHING, assuming after coverage of 5 years you do not have any claims or visit to the doctor relating to that issue.

My sister signed up for Aviva and currently is about 1 year, if 4 more years she do not visit the doctor on her back injuries, by black and white of the plan, Aviva will cover her pre-existing illness because within 5 years there's no record.

But the funny thing is, Aviva will reject your application, as long as your application to other insurer had been rejected before. To me it don't make much sense because assuming the same condition within 5 years no medical follow up, shouldn't be an issue? But well, Aviva do not cover it.

For your case, best to stick with the same one and do a proper declaration, they will send you for medical checkup and exclude it, that's all. Otherwise they might increase the premium and cover your pre-existing.

I thought unless it is confirmed, otherwise is ok. U got treatment for high blood but never given medication, means it is not an issue. U got hospitalised for treatment, but not told or given report that u are "unhealthy"? So that shld not be a problem right.

If u want to play safe, go talk to other insurance co agents (test water lah), see what the agents say, which part of the insurance proposal questionnaire say it must be declared and will affect your policy. Try ntuc lah.

If I were u, I will do that.

Terrible advice... is the agent going to pay for you if you can't make a claim later?

Its an issue. High blood pressure is a pre-exist condition. Every insurers' private shield form will ask if you have high blood pressure, including NTUC.

If you have pre-existing condition which can't be proven that you already know of it by any evidence then it will not hurt you to sign up any policy.
But based on your description you already went to NUH to seek medical attention due to high blood pressure so it's already a pre-exisiting condition that is recognized by you, NUH probably already has some form of record, don't try to smoke.

so in the end did the doctor diagnose you having high blood pressure? better to declare everything. one of my agent also told me the same thing, dont declare, go private, they wont find out.. but i choose to declare to be on the safe side.

Fortunately you didn't follow the advice of your dishonest insurance agent.
