Yes. I stayed in their luxury twin room end last year...

This is my review posted on Agoda... Let me know if u wanna know other stuff... Toilet paper cannot flush in toilet bowl...

“Great Stay at Sky Gate Hotel”
1st time staying in Sky Gate Hotel. Relatively new hotel which is above the iconic Uniqlo Ximending. Very centralised location in XMD. Was given a room on the 13th floor which need to be access using the relatively busy cargo lift as it's shared by other tenants on different level of the building. You can climb the staircase if you do not like to wait for cargo lift. It become a daily exercise for me. The beds are comfortable and clean. Good daily housekeeping by the staff upon request by hanging door tags on the door. The room is abit cramp for me to walk from bed to toilet as I booked a family room with 2 queen beds. My room has a window that facing the corridor. Need to use my bag to press against the blind to prevent people from peeping into the room. Hope property owner can maybe paste a 1 way film on the window so better improve the privacy. I didn't get the room that has a superb view facing Taipei 101 but I am fine with it. Great free flow of snacks and sweets at the level 12 lobby. Free flow soft drinks too. Overall nice hotel to stay in with friendly and helpful staff... You can shop for shoes at level 5 ABC Mart, Level 6 for Hong Kong cuisine, Level 7 Ramen and Mala hotpot .

Previously I pay sgd$200 per night for a 2 queen size bed room... I just hate the cargo lift...

To be frank, I won't stay there again... Not a hotel in my priority list... I go Taiwan quite often just to shop and snack... 😂
$100 per night is quite ok for xmd similar budget hotels? I paid $298 for 5D4N at Puri. But have to be fair, space is small. However what I like it's good location yet hidden away from the crowd.

hey bro, can share what you don't like about Hotel Tomorrow?
recent trips i didn't book this one is becos they don't have a fridge in the room.
other than that they have clean toilets at their lobby which is actually a convenient point for guests who have checked out but still hanging around in xmd area.

I had been to Taiwan 3x : 2017 (taipei), 2018 (taichung/kaohsung/taipei), 2019 (taichung,taipei)

Once you visited Feijia Night market, the other night markets lost its charm, since it was the biggest in TW.
(Perhaps I had yet visited the ones in Tainan which boasted the best old-school TW food.)

Taipei had lost many of its budget hotel with breakfast due to its bad tourism economy, nowadays most in XMD no more offering breakfast buffet options. Most of XMD "new" hotels were retrofitted over old building infrastructure, and most of them had very thin walls, and usually had little insects, and horrible toilet stench.

This year going, I had opted for AirBnB near XMD (with rating >= 8 and reviewers from SG), opted for bigger rooms with better cleaniness. Usually they had dedicated cleaner who cleansed the room before every new ocuppants, and most had kitchen for food reheat.

Taichung fengJia many nice hotel, the best one probably the famed Beacon Hotel outside Fengjia University, so many convenience stores near it, and lots of cheap budget breakfast (generally meant for students).
Taken Beacon first visit there, but hefty price tag, second time, took AirBnB at the other popular apartment with Mickey Mouse theme, just 2-3min walk to FJ night market. Nice pig-blood cube soup, just like SG old-school 猪杂汤, about S$0.40, in 2018.

Kaohsung also not bad, hot humid city in the mid of December.
Chosen the business hotel (商旅) near main MRT station, it offer both free breakfast/supper buffet.
Sound proof room if you had a noisy partner, or you dont want noisy neighbours.
One night stay at this hotel for a family of 4 with all-in buffet was cheaper than one night at SG's Hotel81 (in 2018).

KH was a total disappointment, you just need to visit their main places of interest, nothing more, just take their MRT. Their 2 night markets only good during weekends after 6pm, weekdays expect only 50% of the buzz. One is tourist oriented and bigger, while the other is small food oriented.

Don't wander around on foot to their residential area, quite run-down, probably not safe too.

NEW to visit taiwan?? ALWAYS bring your recycle bag as trash bag.

Outside tourist night markets, you will not see any trash bins, as rubbish dumping/collection are chargable to its citizen, only city council provide trashbin in tourist areas.

La Vida Hotel in Taichung
Hotel to fengjia night market is very near, just turn right cross the road to a small lane, walk straight, you are in the night market in less than 2 mins.
Room is big and comfortable, it's quiet too.

Thanks. Do you have any recommendation for Kaohsiung near Ruifeng Night Market or Kaohsiung Main Station?
IS beacon hotels older? La Vida seems more hip/trendy/newer, just slightly cost more.
pros n cons for comparison?

@xRenol mind sharing your view, if u did book for La Vida?

In the end, I did not book either Beacon Hotel or La Vida Hotel (more expensive). I stayed in In One City Inn, KUN Hotel and KUN Tour Hotel previously. They are within walking distance to Feng Chia Night Market.

KUN Hotel and KUN Tour Hotel are located at the same building but different sides (different lift lobby). The only reception counter serves both hotels.

Beacon Hotel is located within/beside Feng Chia Night Market and can be quite noisy if it matters to you.

The reason for not booking Beacon is it cos of the noise etc?
how's Kun tour hotel overall? distance wise i think nearer to FCNM compared to La Vida?

Nope, I think Beacon Hotel was more expensive than KUN and KUN Tour Hotel.

I found it quite okay and clean but the breakfast variety is very limited. KUN Tour Hotel is slightly better and bigger than KUN Hotel but not very significant. The view from the hotel is just facing the street and nothing fantastic (if this is a concern to you). The distance from KUN Hotel to FCNM is slightly shorter by 50m as compared to La Vida Hotel based on Google Maps.

Tainan - Sheraton. Got the presidential suite upgrade. Good location too.

Taichung - Le Meridian (if family) or Moxy (if couple)

Folks. Anyone went to watch concert at Zepp Taipei before? What is a good hotel to stay nearby? My budget is like probably less than $100/night.
I understand the nearest MRT station is 新莊副都心 which is the airport MRT line. I am going to watch a concert there next year, so I am planning where can I stay. If possible, I rather stay very near so that I can walk back even after the show ends late. A 30 minutes walk I am also good. If really don't have good accommodation option nearby, then the alternate is to take MRT down back to Taipei Main Station, where I am sure finding a stay is not a problem at all. But I want to try something different, instead of the usual TMS...
