Hotel recommendation needed

Hi everyone. I will be going Japan for the first time with my wife and will be in tokyo and osaka. I am not sure where to stay in tokyo and osaka for easy accessibility to trains. I am thinking of Shinjuku and Shinosaka area. Prefer Hotel or whole apartment. Any recommendation?

shinosaka is convenient for taking shinkansen, however there is it less convenient for getting around within osaka and doesnt have much shopping.
umeda and namba will be better as there are lots of shopping and eateries in that area, and is convenient to travel within osaka

for tokyo, shinjuku is a good choice. anything that is near stations along the Yamanote line are good coz that is the main line for getting around in tokyo
