So other than Namba and Umeda, I would even recommend a third location - Tennoji!

Right on the JR line, and loads of new shopping malls just opened around the place. Shinsekai is just next door. I consider it the in-between place between Namba's bustling attractiveness and Umeda's convenience.

Stayed at couple of times in Osaka and anywhere within or near dotonburi is good...if you are using the Kintetsu wide pass to do day trips or coming from the Airport....Namba station is just a 15mins walk away and the walk will be interesting becsuse you will have to walk pass the main thoroughfare on dotonburi and namba walk...rates for biz hotel in that area are generally affordable in that area due to the area being in the Minami area which is considered somewhat less classy than umeda in the Kita area...

If you are staying in Osaka area, which many bros here have mentioned, then you might want to check out the hotel nikko. It is very well connected to many eating and shopping areas. The overall comfort level of the hotel is also good.

Another hotel which I shortlisted the other time was swiss hotel. The location of it is also very good, and read a lot of great reviews on it. The last time, I did not book is due to the rooms i wanted were no longer available :s8: . Will probably try this on my next trip.

I've stayed in two different hotels in Namba, both located very near to the station.

Business Hotel Nissei - Cheap but small
Hotel Nissei

Swiss hotel - Big, comfortable but expensive

Tried Hotel Grande Vista before. Liked it a lot, spacious room, good location, value for money.
