How does iPhone warranty works?

I understand that Apple does not repair phone, they replace damaged phones. But if my only complain is bad battery life, will they do a 1 to 1 exchange?

The battery is expected to wear out eventually and it's within normal limits of 'wear and tear', it's not covered under. Other than that, no harm trying your luck at the service center.
