Finished A lvls and kindda feeling very very worried about NS cos of some medical condition I have. Not sure if I can go NS even as pes E. Met the SAF psychiatrist at CMPB and his MO assistant at CMPB. I went to google and found his linkedin, he is the head of some *** thing. After talking with him for like 20 mins, he told me about 2 to 3 weeks ago when I met him he will put me up for exemption and I will get SMS and exemption letter or smt. Never even offer me to choose pes E or pes F which I found strange as online I read that people are offered to serve under observation. I checked NS portal today still pes D. I did not submit any medical documents at all to CMPB before this NS appointment, just told the MO verbally in the initial appt about my condition, the whole thing felt very strange and wierd. Is what he say confirm or just he recommend? Does this mean I dont need to go NS?

MO (med/psy) will write a memo and provide some recommendations after your consultation, which they'll submit for review to the Medical Panel (or whatever it's called) of more senior officers. They'll make the decision. And at this moment, you can only wait for that decision. You don't really have a say on how it'd go.

Just curious, do you have intention to serve anyway in some kind of suitable capacity in your current state? If you have strong wish to serve, you can try writing in to convince them to reevaluate if you are indeed exempted.

Oh, who are the more senior officers? Cos the Psych I saw is 3 crabs so I thought he was kindda high rank already. He also had a 1 crab assistant taking notes for him during my appointment.
Uhm, at first I was actually looking forward to serving, but because of some medical issues, I think it is best for me not to. Not in a good place mentally (but I think still ok) but im more worried of some physical differences of my body which I think the psych pes Fed me for. The psych also did not even offer me to pes E, he just exempted without asking me if I wanted to serve so I dont think they will allow me to serve anyways.

Likely you will have to go through a medical board which you can attend in person. They will have the final say in your PES status.

oh really, where is this medical board? according to the psych I saw (this guy: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian-s-w-loh-12929156/?originalSubdomain=sg ) , he say they will jus update my pes directly and send SMS/letter, no more appointments, some cmpb person called me and said my pes was finalised at that psych appt also so not very sure...

For most downgrade cases, the MO will review the specialist memos and recommend a PES status and refer the serviceman to the medical board. The medical board will consist of a team of MOs who are usually led by one who is of LTC and above. They will review the recommendation and give the final PES status. The presence of the serviceman may or may not be required.

From your descriptions, your case seems different. You also mentioned that the psychiatrist who saw you is a COL. He might be one of the heads of the medical board and hence there is no need to review again at a medical board. Clarifying with CMPB is the best way forward.

No one person decides your PES status

Does not mean the colonel (3 crab) psychiatrist determines your PES status all by himself

Mindef have their own medical board to determine PES suitability of enlistees, along with the guideline they have which states enlistee's PES status according to their medical condition

So this psychiatrist that you saw in CMPB (or others) has to go to Mindef medical HQ to present your case (this has always been the case in the past, unless there are changes along the way)

Medical board will review your medical evidence (medical condition, doctor memo, medical documents) to determine your PES status

Then you get your medical status officially after they confirm your PES status

You will have no say (to get a better PES status) thereafter

So now the only way is to wait for their official document

Yes what I mean by “better” means up PES

but of course SAF medical HQ has the final say

If you say you want to up PES, SAF medical HQ say ok, good for you

down PES no need to say much here, not advocating to chao keng

I don’t know

I can only say based on my knowledge in my previous vocation in NS

Why do you want to know the process so much?

It is not like you can influence the outcome

Anyways Medical Board will never put you in a position whereby they will put you in a PES status that is not suitable for you

They do have a “heart”

Please trust them

Ok thanks for the reply.

Just a bit worried for now about what will happen if the pes F does not go through cos I have quite severe PTSD that will be triggered upon enterin NS. Also have some other mental issues.

Mai keng la. Haven't even go BMT already start to plan all these.
From the looks of it, by you having to try so hard, it shows you're trying to Keng.
Man up.
Don't worry. If you really have legit problems, you don't even have to try.
They will find you and downgrade you for sure. You can't even hide it even if you wanted to, thats all I'm saying.
This is how the system works.

Bruh, i never even "try so hard". I literally went in for only 20 mins to have a chat with the psych then he said he put up for exemption, never even ask further then say can leave the room already. I am just worried now because he ask so little qns and no news since then. I just want to know whats going on with my pes lol cos the no news thing is making me very worried.

What is the worry?
What is the outcome you expect hence the worry you may not archive the outcome?
