My pc casing is very small. Currently got 1 ssd left hanging within the casing. I intend to add another by putting the 2 ssd very very close together or even touching each other on their flat sides. Will there be any heat issues?

For SATA drives, there will be no issues. The drives are barely warm to touch. For some drives, the casing is nothing more than just a shell. There is no thermal pad for the NAND chips/controller.

Some good 2.5 inch SSDs use the entire top of the drive as a cooler for the SSD controller. Even if there is no contact with the cover of the SSD, most 2.5 inch SSDs don't run anywhere as hot as a NVME type. So even if you stack them, it will not be a problem.

No issue as long as you didn't get one of those RGB ssd that had too many LEDs which caused issues with overheating *cough hyperx fury cough*

Thanks for all the replies. Tentatively i using USB ext ssd to boot into Windows 10 for gaming. All is good for now. No need to install into casing.
