Need advice on this custom build gaming PC

Hi guys. I'm building my first custom pc.

This are the hardware I might be getting.
Asrock B85M Pro4 LGA 1150 Motherboard + Intel Core i5-4570 LGA1150(Quad-Core 3.2GHz) - $378
Power Color Radeon HD7850 PCS+ 2GB DDR5 PCIE 3.0 VGA Card - $249
WDC Caviar Blue SATA-6G 500GB 32MB 7200rpm Hard Disk WD5000AAKX - $69
Kingston PC3-10600 4GB DDR3-1333 CL9 x 2 - $86
Seasonic S12II-520 520W Power Supply - $78

Total: $970

1) Is this build good enough for gaming purposes like Battlefield 3 and probably future Battlefield 4?
2) Anything I can do to lower my total cost? I want to lower the prices to $900 or below for specs that will work like above(if it is good)
3) Do I need any sound card?
4) Does my Motherboard include WIFI? I don't really know how to see.

Hi bro, can check tradepac for better prices and bargain.

Firstly, DVD-RW, do you really need one? If it's just to install OS why not consider using thumbdrive and save that $20+?

Do you insist on Haswell? IB is cheaper and offers good performance pretty much on par with HW(maybe 5% diff), cheaper too and you should go for a lower end CPU if your main purpose is gaming, and get a better GPU or just save the money.

HOWEVER, can read up that a few games(very few) INCLUDING battlefield will make use of CPU.. so you may want to still stick with your current choice although I'd personally rather upz my GPU first.

Whether your MOBO has wifi, I think need check network specs and see if 802.11 listed. Apparently it is not, so I presume it doesnt have wifi, but pls confirm yourself with other people/google searches.

Sound card no need, unless you audiophile or golden ears. I've been using on board sound since forever. Also, sound card no point if your speakers are shat. Budget about 1:5 for soundcard:speaker. So if you have like a <$100 speaker, really no point getting sound card, spend on a better pair of speaker first.

Don't get WD blue, can go 1TB seagate @ $78(tradepac).

Rams just grab the cheapest(ofc buy reputable brand) 2x4 cl9's good to go.

Powercolor 7850 is a solid choice, but if possible can topup to get 7870 tahiti.
Much better card for just that little more dollars. and performance is more of like a 7920 7930 thingy.

I'm no PSU expert here but I think 450w enough for your system.

Whether your GPU can 'last' you through or not, confirm can for few years.
But whether you can compromise lower FPS is your own decision. 7850 probably wont have issues playing bf4 at mid-high but don't expect to run ultra very smoothly. Just FYI only, 1080p ultra bf3 7850 can run average 36fps and 7870 at 44 fps.

Yes and no for sound card.

Basically if you have an A/V receiver you would most probably only want the sound from onboard to be bypass to the A/V receiver to do the job.

If you do not have a receiver and yet want slightly better sounds on your multimedia speakers then yes most probably you will need a sound card.

However some motherboard do have inbuild good sound chips like mine >

The build is normal to me. Can play is can play. Any cheaper i don't know what kind to recommend you liao. Probably gotta drop to ivy bridge i5-3470 instead. And the ram 4gb is gonna not be sufficient.

To see whether the mobo has an wifi capable you most probably have to go to the official website to check out their mobo specs.

What i recommend if you on tight budget get the ivy bridge system and save up that extra money go for a better gpu perhaps the 7870 @ $290.

For me i hook it up with my 7.1 THX Onkyo TX-NR609 Receiver. Basically in some Dolby Digital encoded games like example Diablo 3. I can hear mobs from my back are trying to attack/coming towards me from my back. I would most probably choose to be on alert and what is going on from my back.

Just like CS. You can hear your enemies footstep coming in from which direction. Kill them before they kill you.

Ha~ that's enough, when you got a good budget for sound, it is something worth while buying for.

Ya this is very true. I myself going to venture into that after I build my rig.
But now I prioritize all my budget throw into rig and reuse old speakers first. Sound when time comes I will invest on a good pair and hopefully last me through few builds, just plug and play. Same for the card

A decent entry sound card would be the Xonar DX, coupled with the Unified Xonar drivers... It's being sold for $82 at amazon, top up with other items till $125 and can get free shipping.

-S12II 520W is enough.
-Seasonic ia 1 of the largest suppliers of OEM PSUs and one of the main ODMs for companies like Corsair, Antec etc that buys PSUs to rebrand.
-Reliable manufacturer, doesn't overstate specs like those with unknown brands.

7870 Tahiti LE is based on the same chip, so assume 250W to be TDP max (7950's TDP)

250W/12v = 20.83Amps

do the same for CPU.

-S12II has 40A on 12v rail.
-In amps and watts, the PSU ratings are noticeably above the rated max of CPU/GPU.
-Every newer generation of AMD/nVidia GPUs will keep dropping power consumption because they will move to a smaller lithography.
-S12II has like 5 years warranty, it'll surely last you till your next GPU.

Not: S11II 520w is the sweet spot for single GPU systems, you need a better PSU for SLI/CFX though.

I don't see a problem with the PSU choice even if you factor in capacitors aging etc.
