I just applied for a govt job and has been accepted after the interview. However, in the LoA, it states that I have to clear a security clearance if not I will be terminated within 1 week.

The problem is, I've already signed on the offer letter and emailed back to the employer, my concern is what if I fail to get the security clearance, that would make me jobless. Also, it makes no sense to find a job now since I've already signed on the offer letter?

Not yet as I just submitted to G50 form to her yesterday morning. I will probably double check again on monday.

My whole family is Singaporean though, I'm just afraid due to whatever reasons then they fail my clearance then I really LL LOOL.

I've also MR-ed @ age 35 and have no police records or whatever.

i think you shouldn't go have irrational fear.

like that you will start wondering whether you should even step out of your house tomorrow. since anything can happen?

You're right actually, I should probably just ignore and continue with my medical checkup and stuffs while waiting for the result.

Actually I signed on the offer letter partly is becuz they could offer me what I'm expecting but that security cat1 clearance clause on the letter is a little intimidating. :D Hopefully I don't get pawned by my own country LOOOOL.

Not really tho except for the fact that I was once diagnosed with a mental condition back in April 2020. Even with that being said, I was still employed all the way until now. Although I'm stable with medication, but still I'm not sure if this will be a deal breaker.

And also, how could I have predicted the questionnaire to have question asking about this :D

So far, only requested medical checkup was from the outsourced HR company and I believe it's the normal routine body check up, blood test, urine test, xray probably. I will get it done next week anyway and pray for the best on my clearance result :D

Security clearance takes 2 to 6 months. Factors affecting clearance period are many. Includes their manpower, workload, completeness of your G50 form, additional checks and information from you if required. No way to chase them. Just wait for email reply. The HR will call you once your clearance is good.

I am not sure what govt job you applied but I had a friend who applied for Defence Science Organisation (DSO) which also requires security clearance. They will check your personal background history, your spouse (if married) and your parents, relatives etc. They will also follow and spy on you to see if you have any vices that will make you vulnerable to outside influence, vices like going to KTVs, massage parlours, red light areas, casinos. betting heavily on TOTO or 4D etc. If they see you have any of these vices, they will drop you.
