How long does your PC components last?

Like to have a thread to see how long your PC parts usually last. Components are like:

CPU
Motherboard
RAMs
Graphics Card
HDD
SSD
Keyboard and Mouse
PSU
Heat Sink
Fans

You can also state which Brand, Model number and when you bought it so there is some guidance and range. You can also state what are the symptoms or problems that start to appear and how you troubleshoot so we can all learn the basics of troubleshooting here in case you all have faced these symptoms before and how to spot them and rectify.

Do note that this is not a brand bashing or support thread. Objective discussion is highly encouraged.

My previous rig is still working fine(my dad inherited it). Already lasted 8 years.

i5 2500K w/ CM Hyper 212+
Biostar TP67XE
Kingston ValueRam 8GB (4GB x 2)
Sapphire HD 5850
FSP Aurum 700W
CM HAF 912 Advanced(All fans and LEDs still working)

There are occasions that it BSOD and it even fails to boot but I just reinstalled the RAM and it managed to work fine again haha.

Gigabit lan port and my Asus PCE-56 wifi card fails to work in Win 7 but after installing Win 10 for my dad, they managed to work again. Not sure why lol.

Migrated my Samsung F3 1 TB HDD and Crucial MX100 512GB to my new rig.

Only part that failed is a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 which died after less than 3 years.....Sian since Sapphire only 2 years warranty. Never getting a GPU with 2 years warranty again.

didnt had a chance to see how long it last.

previously always sold my hardware in a couple of months or a year.

initially had i5 6600, then change to i5 6600k..then i7 7700k, and now i7 8700k and left it there. lazy already

graphic card change from gtx 970 to gtx 1080 to gtx 1080ti

monitor change 6 times within 2 years.

now i am out of this pc race, like no meaning just throwing money haha. actual everyday usage, dont seem to have any difference except maybe more fps but not noticeable. Only use for gaming thats why.

So far at least 5 years until I pass to my dad to use. HDD is heng suay. Fan probably outlast all with regular oil refill

So far only 2 components stopped working....

1. 80GB WD HDD (old old old drive, just clicking noise, cannot detect)
2. Seasonic 550w PSU (3 years, PC kept shutting down randomly).

Aside from that, every part I've ever owned that I can still track is still working

i think the longest component i had is cpu cooler, last super duper long, i am sure more than 10 years++ but switch it in the end since new cpu not compatible

what i still using is my psu which 8 years+ i think?
followed by my first ssd 7+ years

old mbs doesn't last long, it has dead capacitors, suay got the capacitor from that tw coy

i think a lot of components with good cooling can last more than a decade

My computer has been in used for 7-8 yr. Intel i5-3570K, Asus P8z77-v Pro, 3x Samsung F1 HDD in raid 5, 2x OCZ vertex SSD in raid 0 (Win 10). Quite surprised that there is 0 problem with HDD and SSD even after so Long under heavy usage.

Recently, the motherboard is starting to show its age so intending to change a new PC. soon.

When your sample size is this small, 10% failrate is indistinguishable from 0.1% failrate

indeed very old liao... i gonna let him become the sort of file server for me as i'm intending to upgrade soon cos my fps very bad, bottle neck very badly for my under utilized GTX 1070 Amp as well...

i've had a couple of failed motherboards and 3 psu failures. As some have explained before, 80+ rating and quality of components are entirely different things. Buy a good PSU and you'll be ok for a decade.

Yah I agree. A PSU should be the absolute fundamental thing not to skimp when building or upgrading any PC.

Glad to have bought my Superflower 600W 80+ Gold. Using for over 7 years and still going strong. Went through 3 PC overhauls already.
