Sushi, Tempura, Kaiseki, Tofu, Ramen, Fastfood :(

Entrance fees cost a fortune maybe 4k yen per day since i went temple hopping a lot!
Shopping not much since i normally use CC for shopping and not cash

ok i just saw your pictures. I don't think that kind of exorbitant budgeting applies to the typical ppl who are asking 'how much to bring' in this thread :) but thanks for sharing.

Is SGD$3000 enough for 5 days stay at Hokkaido and Sapporo? (excluding airfaires n hotel stay)

More than enuf. I spend just roughly ard $1k for my 11days trip in kansai. :D

Frm wat i heard frm my fren (who stayed in sapporo for half a yr). U can live on $100 per day (inclusive of meals/water/transport). That of cos doesnt include buying stuffs (gadgets bla bla).

agree, with your estimated 10k for that trip, think many can do 5 separate trips to Japan :s13:

$100 a day is quite luxurious already :)

Maybe we shld have a breakdown of typical budget including daily meals, misc shopping and transport, but exclude accoms, JRpass and air ticket

Level 1 : Budget : $50 a day (~ 3500 yen)
Level 2 : Leisure : $80 a day (~6000 yen)
Level 3 : Enjoy : $100 a day (~ 8000 yen)
Level 4 : Honeymoon : $150 a day (~ 12000 yen)
Level 5 : Ah Sia Kia / rich man : $200 and above a day (18000 yen and above)

Last time, i always thought if no have $3-5k "spending" money, then not enuf for a 10days japan trip. :D After my maiden kansai/chugoku trip, then less than 1/3 of that. Most my money actually went to buying those charms frm the shrines/temples i visited LOL.

I assume this is per person :)

Anyway, most of the places that we stay have good access to bakeries/snacks/oden....
So if breakfast (and dinner) is not provided (which usually is in proper Ryokans/Onsen Hotels), it's easy to find food in most cities/towns at a reasonable price.

I budget about S$300 per day for my family (2 adults 3 kids 1 infant).
This is not inclusive of big ticket shopping, accom & transport (and gifts)

Most of the time, dinner for us is 3 bowls of Ramen, followed by snacks from the street and convenient store.

:)

I did 15 days for $4k for 2 pax, and it wasn't too miserable. Obviously, it won't be luxurious but still can have good food if proper research is done. :)
Ecluding air fare, hotel and jr pass and data card ?

Exclude airfare; no data card, and no JR pass coz just around tokyo region and if less than 3 station, we take our time to walk there - actually can find a lot of hidden gems this way.

Food & Drink = $1500
Accoms = $1300
Transport = $400
Shopping = $800
total = ~$4000
if plus airfare then ~$5300k?

going by the many posts above, you can try to break it down urself - how much u wanna spend on food a day, cost of accoms, misc shopping etc.

Intra-city transport is ard $10 - 15 max per day, more if you intend to travel to other cities. You can find out all these costs from hyperdia.com.

just spend within your budget, bring extra in case of emergencies. I prefer to bring more cash, but always end up spending more :)

anybody knows where to buy gun dams? yodobashi camera? thinking of getting 2x PG 00 and 1 x MG aile strike with other small SDs, is the tax rebate and 30 percent off retail still available?

anyone knows where to get motorcycle apparel as well?

going for 5 days, other than the above expenditure, i think perhaps $120 SGD a day shld be sufficient?
