how is this impressive? If she have invested in property 20-40 years ago, it give more annual return then this. Instead of putting money back in she should have buy more property. My enjoyment is alcohol and travelling while she enjoys looking at her CPF statement. Different people different poison i guess.
Most probably she has property already. She mentioned housing loan refund :(

1.6mil that is unusable = punching numbers on a spreadsheet and look at it to feel good only.

Anytime i also can punch numbers into spreadsheet ~ 🤣
So salty. She don't need to use that 1.6mil at one go and yet she can feel rich.

Don't be jealous lah you are incapable.

The section on “refund home loan to CPF “ and other sections , is advice for members.

The person who wrote this article used “Janet” as an example to inform every one out there that it is possible to accumulate or have such high numbers in CPF accounts.

Then continue to advise everyone that there r other options one can consider using his/her CPF.

Some are probably salty and some are just asking a question or suggesting that “Janet” should enjoy life while she can.

Many are just making guesses because the article didn’t tell much. There is no right or wrong answers here, whether she has more money in her bank compared to what she has in CPF and Vice versa .

Topics on CPF always end up with heated arguments. Just take it easy. Easier said than done but that’s life. 😀

Let me side track a bit. A story to tell. There is this widow (her name is not Janet). Her net worth is $8 mil. She has only a son and she is already 70+.

Money to her is not an issue at all.

Her only son wants to marry one ATB and asked her mother for a loan to buy an apartment.

The mother is worried the ATB going to scam his son and she suggested to her son to use her and his CPF together for that apartment. Means mother + son’s name.

Of course the son TL & buay song. He left her mom, married the ATB and never went back. She fell down and need to go for check up , cannot drive, and needs to call her friend for help.

The mom could have easily loan or give her son $1 mil and if ATB cheats her son, or the son doesn’t want to visit her, the damage is only $1 mil. She still has $7 mil and she’s in her 70s.
Now she lost a son. Will she regret? No one knows. Only this woman knows herself. We can only speculate and start guessing.

CNY next week.
