Hi all, just want to find out how can one avoid reservist? I’ve heard of income levels above a certain amount, but not too sure how true. Or what if I just continue to take mc everytime I get called back till I’m 40, will I get charged or get into trouble for any reason?

The reason why I’m thinking of this is because I was from a stay out support unit and got posted out now To a stay-in camp. I’m also a biz owner and this affects my daily work. All of the friends around me do not need to stay in Reservist. I’m ok to attend if it’s a stay out camp.

Thanks in advance everyone!

income level is a myth.

will you have enough mc to keep taking? not like u manage to siam once you wouldn't get called for make up training.

easiest way is to either downgrade to PES F, or work overseas until 40.

why you want to siam though?

Perhaps it'd be greatly helpful if you care to share why you want to siam in the first place?

Everyone else returned, what makes you so special?

I got posted out from my unit to a stay-in camp when my unit was stay out. I’m also a business owner so to me this interferes with my daily work.

Well unfortunately unless you have a LEGITIMATE medical issue that warrants a downgrade to PES F and this discharge or you plan to shift your business overseas and thus be based overseas. There’s no way of escaping.

taking MC might work for a few times. But when it becomes so apparent, then it will ring alarm bell.

That's just personal preference, so no grounds for being absent (to MINDEF). They are even willing to reimburse your potential income for your ICT period. Maybe you can try talk to your current unit about your previous stay-out arrangement etc.

Just try minimise whatever disruptions beforehand and clear your ICTs. The earlier you complete, the better. Don't attract unnecessary trouble for yourself. If let's say you get sent to DB, that'd be even greater disruption isn't it?

It's a myth also that one needs to be PES F to Siam reservist. PES E, esp E9 is enough liao. I orded for almost 20 yrs n never get called back. PES E here.

Nope.

they don’t call you back does not mean they don’t call any PES E, E9 back.

If we are working for a company, we can ask our boss to write letter to request for deferment for ICT.
But for TS case, since he is the business owner, will he be able to ownself write letter to request for deferment, due to work related reason?

It’s not so much about who writes but what’s the justification right.

if TS can justify why and they accept, why not

Like what most said, income level is a myth. Also, utilizing MC won’t work in a long run (it will get obvious when you keep using MC). If your unit decides to get tough on you, they can open up a formal investigation and it will get messy.

What is your role/vocation and what unit is this? It sounds like you moved to a combat unit that requires stay-in. Speak with your commanders on this to see if there could be some arrangements made. Either an exception is made, or you could suggest getting posted out to another unit.

Before you float up and speak with your commanders, you will really need to sit down and think of why the army should bend over backwards for you; a compelling argument/reason will help with your narrative.

1. You can of course try to take MC, but if you are caught for malingering, then of course SAF may of course take action against you. Easiest way to avoid ICT? Maybe amputate both legs ?

2. Reservist affects almost EVERYONE daily work. Just because you were in a previously stay out unit doesnt mean you will always be stay out, of course unless you have a medical condition that doesnt allow you to stay in .

By your logic , if your business charge a customer say $5, it doesnt mean you will charge $5 for the rest of time right?
