How to be soldier?

Hi, am currently an IB student and contemplating signing on after or during NS due to money and interest in a military career. Most of the NSmen and regulars I've asked said to go through BMT first before deciding and keep my options open and I tend to agree, but how exactly do I decide whether or not I'm cut out to be a soldier throught BMT? I figure that I will know if a military career is not suitable for me based on how I take to the regimentation, combat exercises and stuff. But how does BMT determine whether I am suitable for the SAF?

if you go through BMT and you cannot tell, then you shouldn’t sign on. Not expecting this kind of question from an IB student.

throughout bmt esp the confinement period (2weekends no bookout), u would most likely know how a military career would be like le what?
u okay with staying in 5 days a week and then come out one and a half day then go back in on sunday night? machiam jail like that.
of course if u want it as ur career u have to consider the fact that scholars will be ur superior and would make scholarly irrational decisions that u would have to suck thumb and obey then when shits happen someone need be scapegoat lor .. so yadda yadda u roughly know how it works.

i wont deny that the pay is good la, as well as the sponsored university education (if you're eligible), but remember that whatever u learn in army is not applicable to the outside world. so if u sign, u signed on for life.

actually much better than jail liao. jail cannot even come out at all for the entirety.
