I thunk like water bottle, we need to wash it frequently cis if use finger to touch, it is slippery surface.

The white stuff is usually crystals from the hot water evaporating. If you prefer something not abrasive, try vinegar or citric acid (descaler)

Vinegar is cheap but stinks and might stick around for a bit on the rubber. Citric acid is odorless but is a mite expensive. like 3x more than vinegar.
