Have heard that applying apple cider vinegar will help
Might as well adopt the no-poo methodHave heard that applying apple cider vinegar will help
I dono about you, but i use shampoo on my head. Not soap.Maybe you are washing your head wrongly. Instead of just shampooing your hair, you can shamboo and rub the soap on the scalp like you massaging your head or scratching it. Having dandruff means your head very oily. Scrub scalp not hair.
Sent from Confucius's conscious using GAGT
got try clear shampoo?
quite effective for me
recently i think i kana dry scalp. From young until now my scalp has been rather healthy with no issue. Have been using silkpro for 2-3 years but 2 weeks ago suddenly a lot of flakes. At first thought is danduff but:
(1) not itchy
(2) not oily
(3) become worse right after showering, and in aircon places
So end up I go buy H&S dry scalp, managed to find in one drug store because dry scalp not available in NTUC/Watson etc.
Been using for close to 2 weeks, not much diff. Not sure what to do next.![]()

You encouraging no-poo?had similar problems for almost a year...could not find a solution at all.
tried many types of shampoos from coconut oil , tea tree, ginger, neem oil to using just ACV, baking soda etc and using coconut oil and jojoba oil as moisturizer
aircon places really triggered a massive flake storm..
but for me it did itch every now and then (tho not to to extent of scratching it hard), but putting on the oils causes burning sensation which makes it worse.
all the while the itch and pains (and slight sores) were only on the back of the head, although whole head was flaky, the back was flaking alot worse.
tried H&S with zinc carbonate (most will have) and menthol (to seriously calm the itch and/or sore) and it helped immediately after one or 2 uses.
however as with all other shampoos, after 3rd use it "did not work anymore".
the next day woke up with flakes, bad itch on the back again.
the sudden realization that sleeping with wet hair causes fungus build up.
after that always sleep w dry hair, changed out pillow and pillow case.
bottomline is:
1) Dry scalp can use ACV to wash, does help to retain moisture, and essential oils certainly do good.
2) oily scalp needs more abrasive wash, perhaps baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) once in a while helps, or sea salt wash. tea tree oil and neem oil does help to regulate, hence more suitable for both types
can also use ACV (1 part ACV, 2 parts water) mixed with a few drops of pure tea tree oil as a shampoo.
3) keeping it out of moisture prevents fungus build up is probably more crucial for keeping dandruff in control ( or at least to let ur scalp heal before u self diagnose whether its oily or dry)
medicated shampoos can help to stop dandruff in short term but not cure the root cause.
waiting for hair to dry now![]()
