For H2, A is 20 pt, B is 17.5pt, C is 15pt, D is 12.5 and E is 10pt. The points for H1 is half of that for H2.

Chem engin for NUS might have chance. Since he is aiming for a science/engin course, his D in GP should not affect his chances much. His H2 grades also look quite okay, not bad. Go ahead, I think chem engine as first choice is quite okay, might be able to get in.

In any case, the total points your son has is 78.75, even with MT added in and rescaled back to 90, it is still 78.75.

Looking at my son grades, will he able to get scholarship?

No. Probably unable to get a scholarship. Unless he sign-on army. You should ask your son what he wants to do in the future. Typically, engineering is a safe field to go into in terms of employability. But not many people like it because its a tough course. He is eligible for most of the courses in NTU/NUS/SMU. Except maybe some of the top tier courses. You should google for the three university's IGP and check which courses he could realistically manage to get in.

prob cannot get SAF scholarship as your son is pes E(not combat fit). realistically speaking 78.75 isnt enough for a scholarship perhaps unless he has some outstanding cca records ( along the lines of SEA games rep ). to be honest even getting in nus chem engine could be tough.
as for school fees, theres the possibility of financial aid.
my sis took a bank loan to pay for her uni studies (her, not my parents), shes graduated and paying it off now, so there's that.

best of luck.

He can't sign on and highly unlikely to get any scholarship or getting into chem engine. 20k is enough to pay for more than 4-6 semesters of school fees. By then it is likely you have more to pay for your son education. And considering from what you says it is likely your son can apply for bursary from the school. Another option is to ace his first year in university and obtain a scholarship. Generally i do not advise in using CPF to pay for school fees (Last option) since your son will be absorbing the 2.5% which the govt is suppose to pay you. I believe anyone can get a school loan at 0 interest for the term of his studies, you can try that.
