How to fix a defragged SSD

Hi,

I have accidentally defragged my SSD which is my main HDD for my PC. Now my PC bootup is very slow and the startup windows desktop only displays after a very long time.

How do I fix the SSD to resume its SSD performance now? Any advice will be appreciated.

Defragging wears down the SSD a bit but should not affect performance. I think your problem lies elsewhere.

It was doing well until i went to defrag. Now whenever i do click on windows explorer, its response rate is significantly slower!

I also have a data redundancy error on one of the secondary HDD which is now inaccessible. Any freeware recommended to recover the data?

Ur problem definitely lies elsewhere as well. Did u attempt to defrag the secondary HDD as well?

As for that error, u better find some date recovery professionals. No freeware utility is going to help u now for that error

Yes I did defrag other HDD partitions of the secondary HDD cos I have gotten data redundancy errors when writing to disk. Then i accidentally defrag my primary HDD (i.e. SSD) and now the whole OS slows down!

If the disk has data redundancy errors, does that mean it is due for replacement? it was originally 42% fragmented and i defrag it till 0%.

Every file that I try to load takes a very long while to open now....

Yes definitely it is due for replacement

It's possible that your SSD has been completely filled up, hence the slow response time. (Deleted data has not been removed.)

You can try running a TRIM software. Crucial has this but I am not sure whether your SSD is supported. I suppose you can just try and see.

Now there's a new problem. After restarting the PC, it is stuck at windows startup logo and never moves on to desktop. What could be the issue? SSD too full?

Please try booting with only the ssd connected.

Likely your failing Samsung HDD is causing the lag. Follow Godeau advice to boot with only SSD.

Agree, happen to my brother computer couple of time. Is the problem HDD cause the slow down.

I tried backing up the files but transferring the files from faulty HDD to my Seagate personal cloud is very very slow. Is there any other more efficient way?

Failing hdd will slow down significantly. Do you have spare hdd with similar or larger size? Use clonezilla software to transfer the data to the new hdd. Last time it took me over 24 hour to transfer all data from my failing 320gb hdd

If no power to your desktop, try reattaching the power cables to your ssd.

Tackle the ssd problem first. If there's problem with the other hdds, by disconnecting the hdds, the ssd should be able to boot normally.
