Software is usually Google around to see if you can find any useful lead/ information.

Hardware is usually quite tricky because most people will not keep spare parts to swap out and test. Just do the usual test like ram, graphic card, etc and hope it will be an easy issue to resolve.

Although googling and swapping parts is the usual troubleshooting things that is usually done. In order to be good at troubleshooting it comes down to years of experience using PC and encountering different sorts of problems and issues.

Then from the past experiences and issues encountered before hand you can roughly guess and know which parts is causing the problem or software that is causing the issues. So one important thing to be good at troubleshooting is experience. Textbooks theory based and googling is just small parts of it.

As you use pc and encounter issues and know how different pc parts work together and different symptoms you can also roughly guess what is causing the problem. Just my rough 2 cents don't want to go into too much detail and long winded text.

too bad my asrock manual doesnt say anything about not liking memory timing set to auto then

oh and..

a pc is definitely less complex than rail infrastucture

In DIY the better your troubleshoot skills means the more u wasted more time fixing your pc .

I think hes referring to DIY pc .

Sometimes really have no idea wth is wrong one especially if it involved mb or cpu both which you unlikely to have spares to help diagnose .

that dono how to troubleshoot a single ram fault

NCS-level stuff you can't even Google since the system is so specialized and the vendors want to protect their business interests first and won't support you unless you pay money.

That said, go Carousell or similar find somebody who is offloading their a cheap Core 2 era PC as a backup system to swap parts to troubleshoot.

I used o have time to do this ****. But now when I have less time its very irritating. I been stuck with a problem of high temps at idle for awhile and I have no idea what to do. It cools down sometimes but sometimes it stays at mid to high 40s. Tried so many things and have 0 idea what to do.

This is actually why I like to tell people with no experience and are not willing to learn to go for aftershock or prebuilt. At least someone fixes **** for you. While for me, I am kinda stuck and may have to just give up on my com.

Ya lor after 16 years of DIY I also sick of the building part, and its definitely not easy since so many things can go wrong also for the experienced, dunno why clueless people online keep saying the "DIY is easy" meme.
