Is what he say and what he does consisent in his daily interactions with people or you or in the project etc etc?
you talk to people.. they already sizing you up.
But if you are dealing with business associates, then there is no point finding out who is evil or good.
both are standing on different sides or same sides. You can only ensure you know what you are getting into and what is the possible downside risks and the mitigation strategies.
It's actually really quite futile to differentiate good or bad with work relationships.
common goal, you will also work with the bad/good person against a good/bad person
different goal, you will also work against the person no matter if he is good or bad.
