How To Reinstall a Graphics Card?

Hi All,

Recently, I noticed a increase in temperature during both idle and heavy gaming times.

How do i reinstall a graphics card if I were to remove and clean it, what are the procedures and things to take care of?

I'm still "not too good" in PC and IT stuffs, hope i can learn a bit from this.

Reinstall - do the opposite of disassembly, ie in the reverse order.


Note: removing the heatsink and fan assembly might void the warranty if the mounting screws are covered by a sticker.

Two things to take note:

Remove the power cables, if any. This might not be so obvious to first timers.

Some PCI-E slots have a little locking clip. You need to unlock it first. If you find that you can't remove the card check for this.

And unplug as well. If scared, press the on button to drain away and residual current before unplugging.

In SG, is there a need to ground yourself? I never did and always felt that the air is too humid for static to build up.

No need grounding la. But we will do it anyway just in case. Unless you in Air-con room 24hours then maybe.
