how to remove hao123.com?

After installing Xigua player, I must have caused it to change my default homepage in IE to : "http://www.hao123.com/?tn=29065018_59_hao_pg".

I saw a shortcut created with the command line "C:\Program Files (x86)\xigua\tourl.exe" http://www.hao123.com/?tn=99542224_hao_pg"

Uninstalling Xigua player didn't remove to this hao123. Even installed and ran some Antimalware application didn't manage to remove it.


Pls advise how could i remove this from my IE? TIA!

On your IE top right corner click the setting button, go to internet options, set your home page to your desired home page then click on program tab, click manage add-ons then you should see search providers remove it and see if it works.

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion,it didn't work.

Antimalware removed othersw but not hao123.

I ran JRT, it still didn't remove hao123.

I reset IE, it just upgraded the version.hao123 still cling on like a leech.

Apparently,there is a command line that which uses "tour.exe l"to direct to hoa123.com whenever I click IE,even if I set default homepage to others.

Really lost as to what to do.

My son's laptop kena hao123 too...:s22:!

Latest Hao123 hard to remove..

The latest Hao123 IE hijack is embedded as a sevice in the software you download. Therefore I found out that looking in the wrong direction. Have to indentify the software that brought that adware in in the first place.

Have a client with the latest Hao123 infection that cannot be removed by any antispyware or anti-Malware scanners. She downloaded QVOD player with Hao123 as an embedded service. QVOD then replicates itself across the whole Windows registry.

You have to uninstall QVOD, get rid of all traces of QVOD, QVOD related files and Hao123 in the program files folders and registry manually (very labor intensive). Traces of QVOD also resides in the Favourites folder.

Once it is clean, download CCleaner to do a mop up the cleaning and repair of your registry to stablise it. Hope this will help those infected with this pesky hijack adware.

QVOD itself also messes with the browsers' settings. Getting rid of Hao123 is not sufficient. These two are like tag team partners helping each other to survive in the system.

But some people cannot do without their free streaming videos.
