In the morning, my internal HDD folders take very long to load. And i restart my comp a few times and suddenly my comp can't start up.

After i remove that internal HDD, my windows start up in a few sec. (My windows is in my SSD, large files and games in HDD)

Now how can i repair my HDD when i can't boot up my comp with it connected? I'm using WD 1TB blue. Or should i just get a new HDD?

your OS is in SSD right?

you boot in without your HDD and see if your windows back up is saved to the HDD or not, if yes, change to another directory, that should do the trick

Hi there,

It sounds like your drive is failing. You might want to try to use a different cable and a different port to confirm whether the drive is failing or just port/cable issue.

Side note, I tried to PM you just now, your inbox is full.

i meant system protection, under system properties, system protection

click on your C drive and press configure

turn it off, do the same for the rest of your drives if they are on

similarly you can just keep drive C on

It does not seem like its a corrupted drive. It seems more like a failing drive. However, have to wait for TS to update us.

TS,

When you power on your machine with the HDD, did it prompt saying harddisk failure is imminent, replace harddrive immediately?

nope. but the past few days, when starting up, there was some check on the hard disk already.

taking very long to search for available drives

that is without your "faulty" hard disk plugged in right?

how many other hard disk do you have? i suggest leaving on your C drive one and the rest all off when they come up

Have you tried changing the cable or port? I ever experience this before but without the warning message. After changing, it works pretty back to normal.

Okay I finally reached my desktop with the faulty disk. What should I do now?

Extract out any data you have inside to another external drive now! And be prepared to say goodbye as this might be your last time accessing it. And when you are done with it, go purchase a new drive. :)

As for the games, its a good idea to format your old laptop drive and install the games in it. You can never be sure is there any virus lurking around inside.

thanks bro but i can't even access the disk now.

i tried to format one of the drive but i can't. in disk management, the drive is logical drive, and the format button is greyed out.
or do i need to format the whole drive?

Okay. It does seem that your faulty drive is in a bad shape. When you tried to access your faulty drive, it hangs or says it needs to be formatted? I believe your other disk has not been initialized hence you were not able to format. You try to initialize the drive and then format the drive. Do note that once you format, ALL DATA INSIDE WILL BE LOST PERMANENTLY! Of course, it might be able to recover but you will need special software.
