How to securely dispose your dead electronic device

Hi guys,

I'm having a dead HTC phone & a dead iPad to be disposed. However, I can't do factory reset for those as they can neither be turned on nor connect to my laptop.

Do you know how I can dispose/destroy them securely or there is any service that can help me with this? Thank you.
