You are not the first to experience this reversing. It has happened to me before too.

The bridging configuration is done on the back end. So yes, it's possible for them to push out the default (ie, unbridged) configuration anytime. This is also why I do check on my WWAN IP from time to time. And why I stress it's not their default but an exception which can go away anytime if they so desire.

Also, bear in mind the call centre guys aren't really the most helpful. State your case firmly (but not rudely), and request to escalate and get another person if this person does not seem to understand and will not deviate from the script. They don't really have that much technical competence, so it's really luck if you do get one that understands the problem. Escalating to an engineer usually helps.

All this strengthens my resolve to move off Singnet once my contract is up. I still have a year to go though... Let's see how they do this remaining 12 months.

Yes, the technician shared that it is possible a reversal has occurred in my case due to some updates at Singtel backend. He assured me that he has explicitly noted not to reverse my bridge mode but I guess I just have to check my router WAN IP periodically.

Thanks for sharing.

Because of the ONR thingy, I do not recommend new users to sign up with SingTel (even though I recommend existing ONT users to stick with SingTel if got no issues -- I am a SingTel ONT user myself since Feb 2012 and I will stick with SingTel for the foreseeable future).

It is unfortunate that relocation also counts as a new installation and will get the SingTel ONR.

so ONT is more stable than bridged ONR for stability regardless of backend upgrade etc?
How to get ONT from bridged ONR? Can they do from backend? request?

Not possible to get ONT now from Singtel. ONT is only for existing ONT users.

Since you are on the bridged ONR, no need to worry too much, it is possible for Singtel backend to wrongly reset your profile, but chance is still low.

If you are worried, port out of Singtel Fibre after contract ends. You do not need to use Singtel Fibre in order to use Singtel TV, you can use M1/Starhub for fibre, for example.

Just recontracted with SingTel and they have changed my ONR from Huawei to Nokia. Their technician had setup the ONR LAN Port 1 as Bridge Mode. My goal is to set up my Netgear Orbi RBR50 router to Bridge Mode so as replace the SingTel AC1900 router. But I always encountered no WIFI connection connection once I’ve changed it to Bridge Mode at my Orbi RBR50 mesh router to bypass the SingTel router. The Netgear website is still shown as ONT/Bridge setup and therefore it is not applicable for this change. Anyone can give similar issue and how to resolve the problem?

Once you bridge the SingTel ONR, you have to set up your Netgear Orbi in router mode (no VLAN required) and not in AP mode.

If you have SingTel TV box, then it needs to be connected to the other ONR port, not the Orbi.

That is expected. The original report was very doubtful anyway.

Singtel's current policy is not to entertain ONR bridging request. So you may want to consider moving out of Singtel after contract expires. How long will that be?

If you were using a bridged Huawei ONR before (sanctioned by Singtel, not done by yourself), try to negotiate with Singtel to bridge the Nokia ONR as you are still in the existing contract.

Even though official Singtel policy is not to entertain (new) ONR bridge request, it is still case by case for existing bridged ONR users. There are reports of existing bridged ONR users who keep the bridging status after recontract.

Singtel will have to bridge it on their end. Their TR-069 servers can compare the settings (probably with simple checkum checks on settings), and if different, automatically push out from their end to overwrite your settings. Tried it with a friend's Nokia a few times and it always becomes unbridged on its own.

They can do this because the ONR is their device, not the consumer's. They have the right to manage their property. When the ONR is also your main router, that's quite scary to think about.

I tried, they say new policy. Guess will try again when contract up. If they say no then bye bye

Quick update and TL;DR:
Singtel doesn't support bridge mode any more.

I got reply from Singtel today:

Greeting from Singtel!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We refer to your concern with regards of bridge mode request on Optical Network Router (ONR).

Singtel has moved from the older Optical Network Terminal to the new ONR for better and more secure network management.

Plese be informed, that we no longer support Bridge mode request effective 22 March 22 till further notice.

We strongly encourage customers to use our issued Access Points which are tested to work with our network and ONR.

You may still opt to use your own routers but Singtel will not be held liable for any damage to customer’s own equipment.

Thanks for the post. It has been known for a while that Singtel no longer entertains new ONR Bridging request since 22-March-2022 (existing users who have their ONR bridged can still keep their ONR bridged).

If you want the ONR to be bridged, the only official way is to subscribe to Singtel 1+1 Gamer Bundle plan, where you get one port bridged to connect the free RT-AX86U (or other router) to the bridged port. Then the other three ports are not bridged, for you to connect to Singtel TV box and wireless access points.

Still it is the firt time I know of the last sentence.

To me this last sentence is to create FUD (Fear, uncertainty, and doubt) among users.

Do we have some **unofficial** way to bridge ?

Call them up and say you need IPv6, they will replace the nokia onr with a huawei one because the nokia only supports native ipv6 not the tunnel singtel use... Then you can try to request bridging for it or reconfigure it yourself.
