How to trouble shoot such pc?

Sometimes can boot, sometimes cannot boot.

Going my aunt house to check her 3 yrs old compaq pc.

Probably graphics card problem?

So the spare parts that I need to bring is a piece of pci-e that's all?

Sigh, likely is motherboard or hardware problem, since it had been 3 yrs old.

You need a working computer to test each component if it is okay. Takes alot of work but this method of trial & error is the best way or proper way to troubleshoot.

But why i sigh cause it is a compaq, or branded computer, everything is like solder in, which make troubleshoot pointless if end of day it's motherboard problem. Plus opening those casing are like, the most ****ty desktop u tried to open, cause vendor don't design them to be opened with user friendly in mind.

Plus on top i assume you are out of your warranty period right?

On the bright side may just be a Ram problem, thats alot easy

First, try reseat the RAM and GPU card(if any). Bring along a spare CMOS battery (CR2032).

will cr 2025 batt work on a motherboard? thats my only spare batt at home.

if it is batt weak, I should see an error msg or see a wrong date or time right?

u may wish to refer to ur motherboard for more details on replacement of batt....
