I realized that a lot of people have mentioned that to use a third party router and still maintain MioTV and MioVoice, one has to set the 2WIRE to Bridge Mode.

So far no single thread on exactly how this is done so I'll create a make shift one with rough instructions.

As before, to go to Bridge Mode you will have to turn off Wireless and DHCP first.
Use the Sitemap to help you find them. I've already set up so i can't go back to check unless I plug directly. I turned off Firewall as well, not sure if this has any effect.

Now, to Disable Routing, you will need to access maintenance pages.
-Go to the Sitemap
-Select one of the advanced pages such as routing settings
-A password will be prompted
-Use "techsupport" and the maintenance pages will be unlocked
-Go back to the main setup page where you can change the the internet connection settings and you will see Routing checkbox, just uncheck and you are now in Bridge Mode.

Its IP will switch to 192.168.1.254 if it wasn't that already. Once you connect it to the WAN port of your router, you will not be able to access its WebUI unless you plug a computer directly into the 2Wire's LAN port.

If someone has the exact details feel free to share ya

For me I had to change my router's IP address to another one other that 192.168.1.1 (i.e 192.168.1.2( as it seems like mioTV's IP is statically set to 192.168.1.1, and I don't see an option to change it, and that clashed with my router's IP and did not work. I was using WRT610N btw.

Just to check, does your MioVoice on the 2wire work in bridged mode?

My previous HGV2700 doesn't. On the 5012NV it does, so I'm wondering if I didn't do it correctly.

yes, both voice and miotv works. performance in bridge mode is significantly better, even in dsl mode.

Hi guys.
Posted earlier in
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?p=59373420

I have same problem with nikhati too.
I'm using DD-WRT on my Asus RT-N16 though.

My previous settings, before all this open-net stuff is.
2WIRE HGVsumthing-BridgeMode--> ASUS RT-N16(PPPOE)

now I am trying
ONT->2Wire5012NV-02-->ASUS RT-N16(PPPOE)
which doesn't work... =(

hmm... how do everyone else do it?

btw, is the PPPOE settings on the ONT ?

Hi guys, is it possible to leave the 2Wire's wireless network running in bridge mode? I.e. have 2 wireless networks running at the same time.

I could do this on the Starhub's huawei RG. Not sure if it works with 2wire. Anyone knows?

You could do this becos the huawei was never in bridge mode as it isn't possible.
So? Don't set the 2wire into bridge too. That will be the resultant you want achieve.
Note: This is the double routing method if connected to wan port on 3rd party router.

Thats because its the actual experience of 2wire, not the AEBS when it isn't doing anything productive.

what do you mean by actual experience of 2wire?

the AEBS wireless performance is almost as good as wired, 96mbps download, 47mbps upload. I'm sure that's more than productive!

You know what im saying, im sure.

If you're getting 96, you're near to the router, so might as well hook wires

2wire Bridge Mode

If your 2Wire is not listing a computer with a static IP address, or you would like the 2Wire to act as a bridged router, the 2Wire offer the technicians pages to change advanced settings:

h t t p://{router ip}//tech/configuration.html

This will bring you into the advanced configuration for the 2Wire. If you have a server with a static IP, and the 2Wire does not have it listed, it will not forward network/internet traffic to that computer. You can reset your local area network’s computer list. This will force the 2Wire to start rebuilding the list again and re-detect your server.
This this problem become common, consider placing the 2Wire into bridge mode and using your own router. This will require a static IP.

Is there anyway to access settings like turning off AP isolation or filter multicast stream settings via this router?

My devices can't seem to be able to discover each other properly and this may help...

Hi Shawn, would you happen to have any suggestion to my issue?

I was wondering if 2wire routers, especially the 5012 NV had the ability to

1)Enable Multicast or IGMP
2)Filter Multicast
3)Disable AP Isolation

I'm asking this because i'm having trouble with bonjour services on my network.

A ethernet wired device can be picked up by my Mac on the same network, however the ipad on wireless mode is not able to pick up the same device. It just simply shows the device as not broadcasting bonjour services.
