If your 2Wire is not listing a computer with a static IP address, or you would like the 2Wire to act as a bridged router, the 2Wire offer the technicians pages to change advanced settings:

h t t p://{router ip}//tech/configuration.html

This will bring you into the advanced configuration for the 2Wire. If you have a server with a static IP, and the 2Wire does not have it listed, it will not forward network/internet traffic to that computer. You can reset your local area network’s computer list. This will force the 2Wire to start rebuilding the list again and re-detect your server.
This this problem become common, consider placing the 2Wire into bridge mode and using your own router. This will require a static IP.

problems with bridge mode

hi guys,

sorry for bumping this up..

i tried putting my 2wire 5012V in bridge mode to the RT N56u.

i did the following on the 2wire:
  1. disable routings
  2. disable wifi
  3. Disable DHCP

as per the instructions of this thread... but my boardband becomes disconnected and the N56u is not transmitting wifi as well.

anything i missed out??
i hv connected e n56u via wan from one of the 2wire lan port.

any specific settings required for the n56u as well?

thanks!!

Switch off ONT, router, and switch on again.

hi Litmuss,

thanks!

is there any settings required on the n56u?

or juz leave everything in its state?

It to totally transparent to the router, you can use any brand, any model no settings required except that you set it to DHCP mode

How's the performance of Singtel's fibre router (5012NV) in bridge mode compared to a higher grade modem or a total replacement like Asus N56U / N66U?

Wondering if I should do a bridge mode of singtel's modem + my own wireless router (Airport Extreme), or Just a Asus N66U, or a different brand's modem + Airport Extreme...

Technically no diff as bridge mode is L2, it's just a switch which handles the VLAN stuff for you. But last time when I used Singtel, bridge mode will break the MioVoice

Anybody know if it is possible to use the below configuration?

ONT -- Aztech 7000GRV(S) -- homeplug(living room)

Homplug(room) -- Pace 5012NV-002 (bridge mode and AP)
