It's common, bro. Go buy a new battery and replace. About $40 for a genuine one. But there's may be an issue with the CMOS checksum error after replacement, which means you need AC power to start the laptop.
After that you can run the laptop without the AC power. Still can't figure how to resolve this (since modern HP laptop has no CMOS battery).

Laptop battery swelling is a common issue caused by various factors. Some of the most common causes are:

  1. An overcharged laptop battery can lead to swelling due to overheating. This is a common issue when the battery is charged beyond its capacity. The issue can be exacerbated in laptops with built-in batteries as part of the unibody design, as the battery cannot be removed for cooling purposes.

  2. Aging: Over time, the battery cells may start to break down and deteriorate, causing the
    battery to swell.

  3. Exposure to heat: Exposure to high temperatures can cause the battery to swell. This can be a result of storing your laptop in a hot environment or using it in high temperatures.
